Take a step back from the asswhipping he gave to the worst LSU team in decades in the super regional.

He’s been to Omaha once and got his arse beat. He’s taken UT back and they’re a good team now but what has he really done so far?

He is unproven and that makes me nervous. Sure, we can do much worse than Vitello but I just don’t think he’s the right man for the job at this time.

Guess you may also be ignoring last year where they came out gangbusters before covid shut it down

Re-vitalized an SeC program into a contender from the trash. Coach that oozes confidence and swag.

Took a team that was in the bottom of the SEC with terrible facilities and led them to Omaha in year 4, while improving every single year

Taken a team that was finishing at the bottom of the SEC almost every year to a 12-18 SEC record his first season, to a regional final his 2nd season, and to the CWS his third full season.

Point me to a player with the talent of Dylan Crews on their roster. Doing more with less gets coaches hired at bigger jobs all the time

If you look at his team this year their position players are not that great but he gets every ounce of talent out of them and has their confidence level sky high. With the players we currently have just imagine what he could do

He’s been a head coach for 4 years and has turned Tennessee from the bottom dwellers of the SEC into a National seed and in Omaha.

He was the recruiting coordinator at TCU and a lot of the players he recruited were on those teams that went to Omaha a few years in a row. He was the recruiting coordinator at Arkansas and the talent level has gone up another level since he arrived there.

He is a great recruiter and it looks like he can develop talent as a head coach judging by his time at Tennessee.

Took a program that had been to 10 post seasons ever and turned them into a top 5 team in 3 years (one of which being a covid year.

Recruiting coordinator at TCU and Arkansas where both went to multiple CWS.

Pitching coach at Missouri and lead recruiter for Max Scherzer, and turned Scherzer into what he is today.

He's taken a doormat SEC baseball program and had back to back great years (albeit last year was very short) the last 2 years and took them to the NCAAT in his 2nd season after they had not even been to the NCAAT the previous like 13-14 years. The guy can obviously recruit and coach.

Keep in mind he followed up Dave Serrano at Tennessee who in SIX years never had a better than 12-18 SEC record and obviously never made the NCAAT. A guy who was considered a pretty good coach coming into Tennessee having taken UC-Irvine and Cal State Fullerton to college world series previously. In fact he took Cal-St Fullerton to 2 supers and a college world series in 3/4 seasons.
