I wouldn't mind Godwin though if we lose on TV.

I really like Jake Gautreau. I realize it's not going to happen, but he may be my 3rd or 4th preference. Seems like he can coach hitting and his recruiting is outstanding.

Skip wasn’t taking over one of if not the top program in the country when LSU hired him. Comparing the LSU job now to then is ridiculous.

Understandable, but the thread is titled "What has Vitello done?"

He took over a horrific Tenn team and had the same type of success as Skip when he started. Tenn was like last place 2 of the previous 3 seasons before Vitello took over.

I'd like to catch a coach on the upward trajectory of his career. If it was all about hiring who's already proven, then we could all be ADs.

My concerns also. He has lived his entire life on the west coast and he has only one guy from the south on his roster. All Cali and west coast kids. Not sure he will be able to recreate what he has in Zona.

The honest answer is nobody really knows what any particular coach brings to the racks but Vitello is the young, flashy candidate so naturally he’s who most want. I don’t care who it is as long as it’s the right guy. They have to recruit and not just let the LSU name recruit for him. He’s got to mesh with the players and honestly maybe the least important part; he’s got to be a good game manager. The last part can be worked on and improved but you can’t force a guy to have a fire for recruiting.
