So your excuse for being a dickhead is that it was his fault. You were the one that was too stupid to not go on his thread when he clearly stated what it was about. In the future, if you are gonna be an idiot, try not to double down by being an arse as well.

Scouting report is that he can’t hit the fastball. Let the rest of the SEC know: “Jones cannot catch up to straight velo.”
You hear that, SEC? Nuthin’ but fastballs to Bear.
I'm amazed at how people who are paid to know what they're talking about can be so wrong. It's like they are watching so many players, that they forget who they're talking about, or just don't watch enough. But that can't actually be the case, can it? We all saw Jones rake in his freshman season until they started throwing him offspeed pitches.
He never really adjusted that year. This year, he was far better at it. Does he have swing and miss? Yeah, welcome to modern power hitters... they don't exactly change their approach with two strikes, and thus strike out a lot (Tommy White being an exception, as he clearly has a different two strike approach). But while the strikeouts were there, the walks went up, he still hit over .300 in the toughest conference in college baseball, and he doubled his home run total from year one. If he couldn't hit a fastball, none of that would be possible.
I saw him swing late on some fastballs, sure... that happens when you're looking for something else. But he has been noted as having excellent bat speed by SCOUTS. So how is it that he has great bat speed, but supposedly can't hit a fastball, even though it was said he couldn't hit a breaking ball coming into the year? HOW is Jared Jones able to put up great numbers while apparently being bad at everything? Fascinating.

What sarcasm? People read scouting reports from a million different places, that all have different opinions on players. I can't keep up with who's being sarcastic, at this point.
Keith Law once said that Austin Riley wouldn't be able to hit velocity. I've seen too many forehead slapping comments from scouts to ever put it past them to say something ridiculous.

I mean I thought it was pretty obvious with the comment about the rest of the SEC throw him nothing but fastballs please.

Probably asked for more money than anyone was willing to pay

Which was obvious BEFORE he posted his second line saying, "You hear that SEC...".

1. His defensive position, RH 1B, is probably least in-demand position on the field.
2. He really only has one tool...power. But it is a too1 that has some holes
3. He's just a sophomore, which gives him an added year of negotiating leverage. As a result, he probably set a high, idealistic, opening number that MLB aren't willing to meet because of Nos. 1 and 2 above.
It's somewhat akin to finding out you have to move for a job in two years. Knowing you have an extra year before you have to move you put your house on the market at a relatively high number. If you get it, great! You leave. If not, you can take it off the market and put it back on the next year with the hope the housing market has improved.
Jones was Pedro Cerrano last season. He could not hit a breaking ball to save his life. He was better, but inconsistent for much of last season. However, by the time the post-season came around (SECT and Regional) he was arguably LSU's best hitter. He was patient and laid off a ton of close pitches out of the strike zone. When he got his pitch in the zone he blasted it. It that maturation at the plate continues he'll be a first few rounds pick next year.
It's worth throwing a fairly large number out on the market this season to see if someone will agree to it. If not, no big deal. He comes back to LSU as the #1 power hitter on the team

either is not getting his number or something else.
there are a million power hitting first baseman in the league that have the same build and play style as him. His profile is always tough to get drafted.

He's also considered a defensive liability at this point. He improved somewhat in that department this year, and stands to improve more if he comes back, but he's a DH in MLB all day long as it stands right now.

What more do fans want from Jones at 1B? A glove on his right hand?
He did more than fine there last season.

I watched every single game last year. Jones made every play he was supposed to at 1st and some he prolly shouldn’t have. He’s as solid as a first baseman you can ask for

Jones' only defensive problem was playing the year after the greatest defensive 1st baseman in college baseball history.

That part was just him saying that. I got that much. But saying that scouts claim he can't hit the fastball was believable, because scouts get those things wrong a lot more often than anyone wants to admit, it seems.
I let one get by me, I guess. Is that a crime around here, or something?
