Holman and Jump were ok last year but neither blew me away.

This is silly. They both had very good seasons leading the rotation.

Jump went 6-2 with a 3.47 ERA. He was good, not great.

He was 8th in the SEC. For a 2nd starter that is fantastic lol

and the freshman bats just did not get enough opportunities cause they are really good- Costello, Hogg, lil Pearson, & Arrambide...all very promising bats with development and reps. Saw it in the fall.

lol.

I don't think I've heard Yamin's name all season. Dickinson started hot and has cooled off considerably. Priester doesn't play. Mayers doesn't pitch in SEC play. Loer didn't pitch important innings last year. Bingham added nothing. Kade Woods has added nothing.
Do you want to play this game lol?

2022 transfers
1. Berry
2. McManus
3. Gervase
4. Reyzelman
5. Cooper
6. Collins

2023 transfers
1. Skenes
2. White
3. Little
4. Hurd
5. Ack

2024 transfers
1. Holman
2. Jump
3. Braswell
4. Bingham

2025 transfers
1. Eyanson
2. Dickinson
3. Stanfield
4. Cowan
5. Hernandez

These are just guys that were day 1 major contributors. That includes

- 4 ace caliber pitchers (Skenes, Holman, Eyanson, Jump)
- 2 of the best hitters in the country (Berry, White)
- 2 starting catchers (McManus, Hernandez)
- 4 major bullpen pieces (Reyzelmen, Cooper, Collins, Ack)
- 2 elite closers (Gervase, Cowan)
- 3 good SEC players (Dickinson, Stanfield, Braswell)
- 1 starter of a CWS final (Hurd)

This doesn't count multi year guys or projects (Mayers, Woods, Fontenot, Beck, Yamin, etc.)

I don't know that anyone in America has gotten more out of the portal or managed it better since Jay has been here. Maybe Arkansas?

What portal classes should have been rated higher?

What portal classes got their no. 2 SP, best bullpen arm, starting CF, starting 2B, and starting C, all leading to a top 5 team in the country?

Hurd had an elite 3 week run in 2022 and was average at best the rest of his time at LSU.

Nobody remembers or cares that Jacob Berry or Tyler McManus played here so mentioning them is laughable.

Bryce Collins had a 9.18 ERA his last year at LSU. Reyzelman went 1-3 with a 4.04 ERA. Hardly elite bullpen pitching.

Gervase was so elite a closer his only recognition at LSU was 2022 LSWA 2nd-team All-Louisiana. Cowan is still playing.

Dickinson, Braswell and Stanfield are all good players at best. Hernandez is hitting .269 for the year and is splitting time with a freshman.

Hernandez is splitting time with a freshmen because he’s a catcher you fricking goon.

Okay? We don't win a title without him.

Jacob Berry was an All American, led LSU in hitting, and was a top 10 pick. McManus was a servicable catcher. To suggest that "nobody remembers or cares" about them is laughable, especially Berry.

Bryce Collins had a 9.18 ERA his last year at LSU. Reyzelman went 1-3 with a 4.04 ERA. Hardly elite bullpen pitching.

Collins was solid his first year. Reyz was better than the numbers show, and that's why he'll be in the big leagues this year.
quote:

Gervase was so elite a closer his only recognition at LSU was 2022 LSWA 2nd-team All-Louisiana.
Paul Gervase had a 1.85 ERA in 39 innings at LSU. He will be in the big leagues this year. I don't give a shite that he wasn't 2nd team All SEC.
quote:

Cowan is still playing.
Yes and he's been a stud.
quote:

Dickinson
Is in a slump and still likely all conference.
quote:

Braswell
Plays great defense, started at SS last year, solid offensive player.
quote:

Stanfield
Leads the team in hitting in conference.
quote:

Hernandez is hitting .269 for the year and is splitting time with a freshman.
Hernandez plays solid defense, "splits time" with the #1 freshman catcher in the country. His "split time" is resting in the midweeks and 5-6 innings a weekend because catchers rarely catch a full season on their own.

Despite your laughably incorrect arguments, I like how you ignored Holman, Eyanson, Jump, Cooper, and Ack.

Just admit you were extremely wrong, or provide me with data to prove to me that you were right. You can't.

Just watch the A&M series and you’ll see a perfect example of performances caused by coaching

I did say before the season they needed another elite bat.

Lol, I completely agree, but every team in the country wants one more elite bat. There are just not that many out there but I wish we had found one.

I think CJJ thought the power numbers the transfers put up at lower levels would transfer over better. That has not happened. Dudes that mashed at their old school have unfortunately just hit the ball vs mashing them over the fence.

I guess it shows how tough SEC pitching is week in and week out that our guys have not hit with more power.

It's currently helping a team to a #3 ranking.
