Ferentz’s background is in OL coaching at the college and pro levels. I’m sure that helps.

It's hard to dispute Iowa's string of championships.

They really do. There are many Scandanavian and German Descendants. Also Louisiana has seen an big exodus due to hurricanes and the economy.

Iowa recruits big, physical and mentally non-dysfunctional Offensive Linemen from the State of Iowa and puts them in a scheme that they can easily learn and execute during a game. (It's not Rocket Science)

This has been brought up every season on here. Those midwest white boys are good. I’d have 0 issue grabbing a few 3 star guys out there

And most of these farm boys come in an accept there role as a redshirt. Work there asses off and become a starter in year 3 or 4 and stay 5.
Unlike what happens down here. Those boys have chests!

How about Arkansas that walked in with a one year SoMs coach and former TU coach when Brad Davis left for LSU.

We had some good road graders under Miles, but they struggled in pass pro.

I have no idea what we’re doing now; Cregg really screwed us.

They're really good at wrasslin'.
You joke, but they are really huge into amateur wrestling up there. MUCH more than here. Those skills learned wrestling as a youth translate quite well to playing offensive line. I believe if Louisiana had more high schools with quality wrestling programs, there'd be more quality OL recruits with more polished skills to boot.

Louisiana has them. We just think we have to leave the state to find them. Iowa builds from inside out. Ferentz knows how to find the big vuys he can develop

I just went and looked at their 2019-2021 classes. They signed several 4 star offensive lineman, but also never signed less than 3 in a class. They had some IA kids but the majority were from out of state overall in the class.

Most of their OL is from the Midwest and neighboring states.

Cause they are known running teams that play smash mouth football and don’t try to finesse anything.

Kirk Ferentz was an OL coach. He knows how to find and develop players.

big farm boys of eastern european descent. All those midwestern teams have these guys. Mizzou & Hogs usually gets a few. Most are not highly rated but end up being the best in the league.

Also Frantz has been the head coach for two decades. He has a system, a program that he adheres to and does not get a lot of coaching turnover on a yearly basis.

But someone mentioned wrestling. Wrestling produces better conditioned athletes and more flexible as well. Wrestlers understand leverage better than a big ole Popeye's eating baw from Bascom illegal or Ferriday or inner city BR. I would wager that those leaner OL in Iowa and the midwest with the wrestling background could wear out our OL down south.

Oh, I’d take a wild guess and say they are pretty damn smart, tough and they are for damn sure not fat and out of shape. Biggest guy is 296 and smallest is 282. Their center is a converted defensive lineman and a star wrestler.

They recruit and develop big, corn fed white boys from Iowa!

I say we offer them 2 5 star receivers for 4 online men. Maybe throw in a 4 star db?
