More of whatever drug he took before he returned to the Oklahoma game. That Nuss is a Heisman winner.

All of that will help Nuss to slow the game in his head. We saw Burrow and Daniels become like Neo in their last seasons. That is the hope.

Simple really...
1) Learn to throw it away safely / Quit trying to force things
2) Learn to tuck and run for a few positive yards

Combine this with working on deep ball accuracy and you have it.
Nuss needs to understand that he’s good enough to playing winning football without forcing the ball into bad spots. It’s ok to take a sack or throw it away with a defense that is improving and will be even better next season.

Everything is great except he’s scared to get hit. Drop the fear and run when the opportunity presents itself. Burrow is a great passer, but it’s his willingness to run and take a hit that makes him great.

Run when the opportunity presents itself
Ironically, Jayden Daniels won the Heisman Trophy by NOT running ever time an opportunity presented itself. He did it far too often in 2022 then in 2023. He had 249 more rushing yards in 2023 on 51 fewer less rushing attempts. Nuss needs to find that balance and get better at ball security. An upgrade at receiver is also necessary.

Work with his WRs over the summer to get timing down.

1). First and foremost, learn that it’s okay sometimes to take a sack or to throw the ball away ( like totally out of bounds ). Live to fight another down or series.
2). Get more accurate on deep balls.
3). Keep learning to check down, he has done better at that the last 2 games.
4). Be better at his post snap reads or don’t just trust your pre snap read.
5) it’s okay to run when protection breaks down but get on the ground or out of bounds ( there isn’t a viable option right now at backup QB ).
6) Get better at where to escape the pocket.
7). Lastly, be committed to the “ summer of 10000 passes” to his receivers.

Step up into the pocket more and take off running when you see the linebackers part to the sidelines.
It would also help if he had more studs at WR
Nice observation. Obviously running game but if he just steps up and is ok with taking off UP the field v rolling into trouble I think he’s in for a monster year

Get stronger. Continue improving pocket presence and decision making (e.g., when to bolt and pick up yards with his legs, stop turning his back to the line of scrimmage when he scrambles, etc.).

footwoork, mechanics, work on accuracy, reduce his bad tendencies with decisions, see the field better, read defenses better.

-Take what is given to him: (more scrambling for firsts and more short dump offs or throw aways instead of forcing it 20+ yards downfield)
-Live to play another down at times
-make better decisions
-stop doing that little ballet spin move every time someone comes near you to where you are turning your back to the field and lose sight of other rushers coming but also your receivers.

Learn to step up in the pocket while at the same time not having happy feet. I’ve watched all of his interceptions and it always comes when he drops his shoulder and arm angle. It’s always when he’s not set and many times he’s in a clean pocket, but feels the walls closing in on him and makes those feet dance unnecessarily. He made a more concerted effort to run the last couple of games, but he sure as hell knows there were tons of times he could have escaped for 5, 7, 10 yards easily instead of forcing a throw. Those are things that can easily be worked on with his 2nd full year as a starter in the SEC.

We had, for the most part, good receivers. The deep ball overthrows hurt us and his stats a lot.

Maybe a consistent running game???
You develop a consistent run game with consistent pass game.
We have to stop playing from 3rd & 5+. I think play calling has to get better to make Nuss better. It was either a dump to a WR, deep ball (that was missed a lot), or an out for a few yards. Felt like we never threw quick slants or anything over the middle. Now it SEEMED that way. I don't have a pass breakdown in front of me. Felt like he also left the pocket really early. Earlier than he actually needed to.
We will see improvement. Burrow had it, Daniels had it. It was his first year starting so I know he learned a lot. He balled out against OK, so I hope that rolls over to next season. He'll be a little more comfortable in year 2.

He’s not slow at all what are you talking about. It’s not his speed that’s the issue, it’s his idiocy and stubbornness

Keep the ball on the read option at least once or twice a game, and improve his accuracy/judgement/mechanics which will reduce picks.
It’s not what he needs to do so much for next year; the biggest challenge for him will be our OL unless we get some studs in the portal.
