What do the LSU coaches think of Nussmeier’s potential?

That is what we don’t know.
There will be 100 QBs in the portal in the next 3 weeks. Whether LSU goes after one - and which one - depends on the answer to that question.
A. Do they think he’s a future star that just needed some time in the system?
B. Or do they think he m’s Just A Guy (JAG)?
If it’s A, they might not pursue a QB, or they may pursue a depth/competition piece.
If it’s B, they might pursue a QB1 starter. To get a guy like that, you have to basically guarantee him the starting position, and Nuss probably leaves.
Which means there is no QB competition and we go into the season with Collins as the backup.
It’s a delicate balance.
It may depend on who becomes available. I haven’t seen anyone yet that is a game changer.

I think they know he's JAG and B is the answer. Otherwise they would have went with him last year. Dude has been at LSU for years and hasn't broken through. I doubt next year will be any different. I believe they go in the portal looking for QB1.

Nothing wrong with getting a guy in the portal, even if you are in love with QB1.
It’s hard to see Nuss creating opportunities with his running, but I like the idea of a gunslinger back there.

I think Nuss will be QB1 next year but they are going to bring a QB in no matter what and they should.

Why don't you pay attention when Kelly is talking about using the Portal to get reinforcements.
He said DL, DL, DL.
Not once has he said we are looking for a QB, depth or otherwise.
Nuss may not be the answer, but Kelly has said repeatedly that he has two starting QBs on the team.

I think they will for sure bring someone in. Who they bring in will answer this question.
If they bring in a P5 starter with limited eligibility left, they don’t think Nuss is the answer.
If they bring in a JAG, Nuss is likely the guy,

I’m guessing they don’t think he has the potential to rush for remotely close to 1000 yards…maybe not 100.

If they bring in another guy then I see Ricky transferring for sure

Since when is this a requirement for a successful quarterback?
There’s probably not a QB available that will do that.

Go Get Pratt from Tulane once he hits the Portal. We all know that Nuss is not the answer. He has shown that time and time again when given the opportunity. Sure he has had some bright spots but even in those games he has thrown terrible pics.

Why not get another QB in the portal with experience. After Nuss all we have is young guys with no playing time.

I said “remotely” close. you better be able to either have a QB that can keep the defense honest with ability to run…or you better have the best defense and running game in college.

Kelly did say at the start of this year that next year was always the year and these last two were rebuilds. I'd like to know if he stands by that after seeing what we saw this year from the D.
I know the confidence level with OL is there. Maybe that is also true in his eyes for QB. Hopefully he knew something we don't about the D, but I doubt it.

You probably said something like this about Jd too.

Some of you guys really think you're dropping knowledge with these horrible, baseless posts.

Daniels last season at ASU had 10 TDs/10 INTs. His 1st season here he did well, but struggled some games and didn't push the ball. This season he's the best QB in CFB.
We don't know what the coaches feel at this point. What some see may not be what the coaches see.

There is no reason not to take a good qb in if he wants to transfer in. I think Nuss will be good but he isn't JD with the ability to escape pressure.

The backup is always a young (sometimes old) guy with no playing time. Nuss basically has no playing time. Not enough to know for sure. Bringing in a transfer won’t mean we have a proven backup.
Best case for evaluating what to do for next year is for JD to not play in the bowl game and see what Nuss can do in a whole game situation.

I believe if "THE GUY" is there in the portal BK will try to get him. There is no reason not to. If you want to be elite it's starts with beating out elite competition and if Nuss beats THE GUY than he has earned his shot.
