Are we looking at a 3-3-5 for year 1? What's his ideal/perfect defense that we are working towards and recruiting for? Or is it gonna change every year to fit the players capabilities?

I predict it'll be a four man front with two linebackers (Weeks and Penn). One of the ends will be a standup/Jack type(Womack and Howard will get most of the reps at this spot) to go along with 5 DBs. Perkins will play one of these DB roles as an in-the-box safety.

Tackle. The. Ballcarrier.

JK JK, I have no idea but the bar is so low I'm sure whatever he implements will be relatively simple and will dramatically improve the unit overall. Really I'm looking to year 2-3 to see the true potential of his defense.

This is what HAS to happen.
You can have the greatest scheme ever, and without players that fit it would be a disaster.

Look at 2020, Bo Pelini came out in midseason and said we didn't have the personnel to run the 4-3 scheme Orgeron wanted, but Orgeron insisted it be run, so that's why we sucked on defense.

In my opinion this is what it should always be, but we just dont have the guys on the interior this year to do this.

Its going to be multiple. Eventually with another recruiting class he will be able to have set scheme he is running. But I would expect this year is going to be very multiple to fit the players we have.

You’re not going like this……it will be VERY similar to what Matt House ran. Except this time we try it with a D-line coach

Depends on if we get another DT or not

If not then we will probably run a lot of 3-4 just with the lack of depth on the interior
