Why would we go back to a prior coaching staff?

I went beyond the current staff because you did as well. Your timeline also included years beyond Kelly. In the 3 year span that Kelly has been here, he’s 0-3 in openers and hasn’t sniffed a playoff. In the same span, Dabo is 1-2 and made the playoffs. Which of those scenarios would you prefer?

It’s NOT beyond the time frame for the current Clemson staff.

If there had been a 12-team playoff in 2022, LSU would have been in.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 5 times... well.

Maybe win one and I'll come around.

You’re missing the point. It’s not the same exact assistant coaches or rosters from year to year. Therefore, you can’t assume the same results all the time.

LSU is trending upward significantly in those two areas.

Well there wasn’t, so that’s a moot point. Also how many 3 loss SEC teams got in the 12 team playoff this year?

No, we weren't even close. We were ranked 17th on selection day and 14th before the SEC championship loss to UGA. If had not shite the bed against A&M, we might have made it as a 3 loss team.

And, yes Clemson has lost 3 of their last 4 openers and are 1-2 in the Kelly era and have sucked almost as bad we have in them. However, their loss last year was to #1 UGA in Atlanta and we lost to a very average USC team in Vegas.

I actually expect Kelly to turn things around this year with Nuss and hope we indeed beat Clemson at their place, but after the last 3 years, I am not confident it will happen. And my optimism overall (or lack of it for the opener) doesn't change the fact we have not sniffed the playoffs under him, under achieved last year, and he has been putrid against ranked teams.

The reason this season is so desperately important is because, as head coach, he has put is in this position.

Our feelings as fans have no impact on what happens on the field, none.

When Kelly demonstrates that he can get his team prepared for the opening game in the off season and field a competent defense the fans will have more optimism. We have three seasons of results at this point. It's not blind negativity. It's a trend.
agreed. He still has a lot to prove, a lot to improve upon.

I want to watch a well prepared team in the first game of the season. The last 3 years they weren’t ready. Call me negative Sunshine Pumper.

For some reason I was thinking they fell to 14th after the SECCG, not that they were 14th going in. Either way, the committee set a precedent in the 12-team playoff selection of not dropping teams who played in a CG, so being 14th before the CG was close, but I agree they would not have been in. This discussion was never about full season performance anyway, so I shouldn’t have gotten sucked into an irrelevant point.

And the year before LSU lost to an FSU team that was undefeated until Travis got hurt while Clemson got manhandled by a very average Duke squad.

He has lost when his teams have been overmatched. People take losses to all-time great Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia teams and act like a lot of good teams didn’t also look bad against them. Clemson beat Bama 44-16 in the title game. Bama beat Ohio St 52-24. Georgia beat TCU 65-7. No, Kelly hasn’t done great against Top 5 teams, going 2-8 since 2017 against teams finishing in the Top 5, but 7 of those losses were to Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson. Those were all more talented teams. He’s 10-7 against other teams that finished ranked in that same time frame. That’s not nearly the train wreck people make it out to be.

Goodness.

Back in 1986, we beat aTm in the opener. Hooked after that.

OP is just another in the long line of Pump Nut Cheerleader MA's that think anybody that's not 100% Pumper Puker is a "Loser Mentality Nega-Tiger" fan.

He's just looking for attention from his fellow Cheerleader friends on the Rant.

BTW, there's a huge difference between a Nega-Tiger and a Realistic Tiger.

LSU's not beating Clemson because of the OL situation. Lost 4 starters, only signed 2 from the Portal. All the returning OL's are either inexperienced or not LSU/SEC quality. If they sign at least 2 more in the Spring the quality of Thompson and Moore, there may be some hope. As of right now, it's gonna be a shite show.. The same OLCoach that couldn't effectively teach Campbell, Dellinger, Jones and Frazier how to run block, now has to attempt it without them (That's Reality, not Negative) .........

In 2022 LSU won their bowl game and finished ranked 15th

LSU would not have made the 12 team playoff

LSU lost its final game of the season to Texas A&M 38-23
then LSU lost to Georgia in the SEC playoff 50-30

After LSU played 11 games then they would have been selected to the 12 team CFP

Yea, this is important the first week of February. LSU "finna" eat. Deep thoughts here. A highly educated person you appear to be. Start worrying about, let's see...which jersey number the offensive lineman will wear this year.

We spent all this money everywhere else, and still held onto our OJT offensive coordinator. That should’ve been addressed the day after the bowl game. It was maddening to watch his predictable floundering in wasting two downs trying to run it up the middle, when everyone knew exactly what was coming. Then putting it on Nussmeier to save the drive. There’s still time to end this experiment.

It’s just a pattern under Kelly where they are not prepared. USC was an inferior team who he lost to.

So it's pathetic that fans assume we'll lose the first game after losing every opener since 2019?
