Obviously we're only in week 1 of October, but at what point does Malachi need to start putting up stats before this "will he be back next year" talk start?

Through 5 games 15 catches 136 yards 0 TD's.

What he does have going for him are his measurables and the fact that this years draft class isn't loaded per say in comparison to years past. If he gets a 3rd round grade does he jump or come back with a potential returning starter (Etling) and new coach (O or new hire) with the promise of opening up the offense and centering it around he and Guice?

NFL drafts on potential. He will light it up at the combine with his athletic ability and be a top 2 round pick.

At this point, he'd be lucky to be signed as an undrafted free-agent. Needs to pick his game up big time.

no

He needs to come back for his Sr. year and I'm one that usually advocates for players to go get paid but he's done himself no favors this year

That's what I'm expecting but at the same time they do want to see at least a pulse of production in the collegiate level even with subpar QB play.

At this point, I would say 5th round.

Nah, but he needs to prove that those early season drops were a fluke. They may not look at raw stats, but they certainly judge on film against top competition.

It's not stats, and it's probably not that big of a deal he's had the drops. It's his inability to go up and catch the deep ball in 1 on 1 situations.

Other than being 6'5" and making some over the shoulder catches in the corner of the endzone last year, what has he done to say he should even be drafted, much less in the first 2 rounds? He has potential, and given the opportunities to put that potential to use, he's failed miserably this year with the drops and the inability to corral in a deep ball.

Who knows why a team selects a certain WR. Kelvin Benjamin was notorious for drops at FSU and he got picked in the first round. And, when it comes to measurables, Dupre is far superior to him.

It's way too early to tell. Guys have fantastic seasons and aren't even looked at in the draft. Dupre could get better. Will he? I have no clue, but all what matters is what NFL teams/scouts see.

Undraftable until he shows consistent hands. Fact is he is still dropping easy passes (did it again this last weekend). There isnt an NFL team out there that would risk a 1st or 2nd round pick on a WR whose drops on the season rivals his catches, regardless of his physical attributes.

We also moved Dupre into the slot just to help him get open more because he seemingly never seemed to be very open going up against a #1 or #2 CB on the outside. He plays VERY passive for a guy who is 6'4 200. These aren't favorable things for him. I hope Dupre gets things turned around but I don't think he should be thinking about leaving for the draft early at this point. He has way too much to work on, most specifically catching the passes that hit in the hands.

You sure about this bc I think there's a guy catching balls on Sundays for the Bengals that would disagree.

On Saturday, the ESPN ticker had him as the #3 Receiver in the draft (not sure who's projections these were).

I think he has to put up some numbers at some point in this season to get taken somewhere in the first two rounds. They definitely draft on potential, but a few catches per game and 0 TDs won't do it for the NFL guys to pull the trigger in the first two rounds.
