It's not insane. It's making money. Lots of money. And it's banking on the fact that enough of our fans are so enamored with O because he's a Louisiana boy that they will continue buying tickets, merchandise, etc., no matter what the results are.

The only way to force this administration to do anything is to hit them where it hurts - their pocketbook. But our fanbase is too loyal and stupid to do that.

Look at the number of posts by Gravy, no doubt this is an alter of TigerRee and both are clearly Derek Ponamsky.

just a couple of plays away from NY6 bowl.

You don't give extensions for almost accomplishing things. That's exactly why our program continues to go backwards. Embrace mediocrity.

Why in Earth would you give an extension to a coach that literally no other Power 5 school would even consider hiring?

I think most Lower division schools would pass on Ed. So Joe Alleva will give an extension.

I dislike Ed as much as anyone as HC but Alleva has to be the first domino to fall if we will ever be relevant nationally again.
Our Admin (including but not limited to Alleva) are the worst fricking negotiators ever.

IF another school came sniffing around there are ways to use that to your advantage. You have to pre-plan and operate on the assumption that it will happen, but that's easily doable.

Example: FSU comes calling. First thing you do is plant a story in a non-LA paper claiming a) stating that, b) LSU has sent feelers to such people as Venables and Brohm (as examples) and c) drop a mention about Aranda being the HC-in-waiting anyway.

See what names start calling on us. You might be pleasantly surprised who calls. When they see, via that plant, that LSU isn't afraid to make a move some will call. The numbers that call will increase year-over-year as Saban inches towards that retirement date. But you'll never know who was interested unless you give an opportunity for some to express that interest.

Yeah, there's a pretty evident parallel to "the search" here.

You don’t extend him for maintaining what the last coach you fired did.

LSU is a joke. We don’t want to compete nor do we have the balls to call out the SEC for fricking that game up. No point in supporting this program until they change.

These young men got robbed and our higher ups are sitting there and taking it. The Orgeron experiment has been such a rollercoaster so far.

if O gets an extension, we need to just shut it down til alleva and orgeron are gone.

what a fricking joke.

Yeah, right. Just like Miles.

We'll get jerked off about assistant after assistant until the O disease has fully sunken in.

Then we'll have to start all over again, just like after Archer, et al.

Yup called this last season. Just continually set the bar low. Then best it by a game or two. Viola! Exceeded expectations! Brilliant!

Ed can play this back and forth game for years with our admin.

And everyone can just fall in step and act like 3 or 4 losses is top notch!

Anyone who steps up and reminds the masses that our last coach was fired for everything we’re seeing now is labeled a hater cause....well.... you know... “we comin!”

The rest of that O never said out loud is “we’re just never actually gonna get there!”

Lose Aranda and we're 6-6 or worse. O better fix the offense.

This is the box he might have put himself into: to make a staff change to fix the offense means to start over for the 3rd year in a row, which means to transition once again, which likely means needs fixing again.

The correct answer would have either been not to have hired Canada with his personality problems or work through them and not fire him. If he demotes/fires E now, that's 4 years in a row we've changed coordinators (Cam, Canada, E, then the 4th guy).

Make no mistake, this is a box of Orgeron's own making. He's the one who hired Canada. He'd have the same box now if it had been E or anyone else. It just so happens we've regressed even further on offense, making the walls of that box higher and thicker.

Exactly. If I'm hired as a hedge fund manager tomorrow expectations are going to logically be pretty damn low. Just because I only lose 10% of the funds value instead of 20% doesn't mean I'm good at my job.

LSU and the athletic department are so far removed from the state of modern college football I don’t know why any of us are surprised by this. Unreal.

Pretty much this
LSU is not winning the SEC any time soon and there is not a got dam thing any of us can do about it.
It’s entertainment, just enjoy the occasional big win every now and then...

We fired our previous coach for regularly going 9-3. I want everyone to read the quoted statement until you realize just how absurd all of this has become.

"Exceeded expectations" for going 9-3. A raise for going 9-3.

When we fired Miles for regularly producing 9-3 seasons.

This administration is downright insane,

Amazing. And we finished the regular season with the worst ranked offense since the 2014 season to boot.

There IS something we the fans can do: STOP SPENDING MONEY ON LSU. If you want to see change, then stop paying parking fees and buying tickets and concessions and merchandise. Don’t buy bowl tickets.

Aleva is a piece of trash who should’ve never gotten another job after the Duke lacrosse fiasco, but he is making money for the athletic department. That’s the only language he speaks. He’s now getting later Les Miles-results for Orgeron salary. There’s no desire to compete for championships, only a desire to wring out every dime from LSU fans.
