I did hear that, but I also heard that that contract really isn't binding until the BOS approves of it.

And, if Ole Miss really wanted to screw Lane, they could pay the buyout. I just don't think this "allowing" our coaches to coach Ole Miss in the playoffs is a good idea.

If this is true, and we rented all of these guys out the ole miss without binding contracts in place, then somebody at lsu is an idiot.

If LSU (and that's a mighty big if) can enforce a buyout on a contract that isn't signed yet, it doesn't stop anyone from leaving. Term sheets are non-binding, excepting things like non-disclosure. I know what LSU has put out there through mouthpieces like Scone, but term sheets are not binding contracts. That's why Ole Miss made another run at Weis.

They are all still under contact with Ole Miss and have only signed term sheets with LSU. If they want to go anywhere they want to, it can still be done.

Should have waited to see if Ole Miss would screw over the OC they just hired.

I see where you're coming from but it's also a pretty low risk proposition for LSU with some upside to let this happen. Lots of people (like recruits and their families at times) are low information people and just look at things on the surface. If and when other teams negatively recruit against Lane for "abandoning his team in the playoffs,"

nobody gives a shite about that. Kids want to get paid first. develop for nfl second , see the field early third, win fourth and everything else is bullshite

That contract is insane. Basically guarantees he will be the highest paid OC in the SEC

It'll be obvious that I don't know how any of this works, but frick it. Why can OM hire a coach in the blink of an eye and we're still in negotiations with ours apparently ?

Didn’t we already “agree” to terms?

Shouldn't have let him or any of the assistants go back for the CFP

Although I agree, it’s not like they couldn’t continue pursuing him if he didn’t go to help out for the playoffs. Also, didn’t they just sign a new OC? Did they do it before this or did they do it bc he turned them down?

Because the OC under Kiffin is like being a DC under Saban. Weiss has done nothing to warrant being the highest paid OC in the sport.

But why do you care? If Kiffin wants him and he calls the plays to a great offense, why does it matter to you that they pay him a lot? Is it your money? You’re just upset about the principle of the matter?

Well, Ole Miss is in the same boat we are at the moment. They have agreements with their staffers in terms of offer sheets but they, just like us, are waiting on their BOS to approve the deals before they're finalized. So basically, they've hired an OC just like we've "hired" Weis. I think Golding just negotiated more terms on his deal before it gets board approval so this is just kinda how it goes with multimillion dollar university contracts.

Well, I told y'all we would lose 1 or 2 of the coaches we are giving Ole Miss to help them out.

I still say if Ole Miss beats Tulane, more of these "LSU" coaches will stay at Ole MIss.

This was such a bad idea - "Let's help Ole Miss win a championship, while we wait for them". They could actually be doing something constructive for LSU right now.

Should we buy Ole Miss jerseys while our coaches are coaching them?

The feel I get is that Kiffin says what he wants to do on a play, but Weis calls the actual play. "Let's get the QB running here," then Weis picks a QB run.
