You play to win the game…within reason. Send him out to start an inning with 45 pitches? No.
Leave him in to throw 6-7 more pitches with two outs? That’s not unreasonable.
6-7 additional pitches is not going to be the difference between pitching great 5-6 days later and completely falling apart

Coach JJ literally explained it during the in game interview. He even left Ack in for one extra batter. Why can't you people understand the bigger picture when the coach literally spelled it out for you

Authority bias rules this board. A coach could go to the mound, drop his pants and fill up the pitchers cap with shite and 80% of the board would argue it was a genius move and anyone who disagreed doesn’t understand baseball. That isn’t hyperbole, it would absolutely happen.

Not upset about it. Just rebutting the argument that he HAD to do it because of the pitch count like a handful of “extra” pitches in that situation is going to tank LSU’s chances next week.
