At the plate we look like any other team...average when it counts.

They are near the top of the SEC in almost (if not) every statistical category. Horrible take.

Sounds like it's your own fault for believing a few college kids were the next coming of murderers row

You think the offense is the problem?

We had lots of fans fall for us murdering small schools who have no SEC/Power 5 pitchers. Blame the expectations on the coach responsible for the 2022 OOC schedule. No one would have expected us to have "murders row" level hitting, had we scheduled teams with a pulse for the start of our 2022 season.

Oh stop with this we are in the top bullshite. You can hit all game but if you’re not hitting when it matters the most stats don’t matter. Can’t win games on oh we are at the top. You have to be able to bring in runs when it’s clutch time and they are not.

It’s the errors and pitching. Let’s not fool ourselves the hitting hasn’t been all that great either. We have been out hit by the Faggies.

The lineup has a lot of talent.

But take a look at what A&M did in both games so far
They battled with two strikes. They fouled off pitches to extend at bats and earn walks and hits with runners on.

We don’t have many guys that do this. Our at bats look exactly the same as they did all the years under Mainieri. I thought under Johnson we’d be a team where most everyone would be able to extend at bats like A&M did.

Johnson has obviously had offensive success where he came from. We put up 7 runs last night, though that should be enough to take most games if the damn defense doesn’t play clown ball

The bats are great…..it’s pitching and fielding that is atrocious. Starting to worry Jay Johnson may be a one trick pony. Not ready to judge that yet, but I am less optimistic than I was five weeks ago.

The line up is very top heavy. That said, it’s adequate to compete with anyone if coupled with adequate pitching and defense, which are the real glaring issues. You should win games when you score 7 runs. This team has some obstacles to overcome, very few which have to do with offense.

In real estate it’s location, location, location. In baseball it is pitching, pitching, pitching. And we don’t have it. We don’t have one pitcher that is an SEC caliber starter.

I'm a lot more concerned about the defense than anything else. I haven't seen a team that makes this many mistakes on routine plays in a long time. Pitching could use some work and hitters could use some patience, but several games would have very different outcomes with more consistency on routine plays and better overall fielding.

NCAA Batting ranking out of 293 teams in D1 baseball (16 SEC Teams) through 4-17

BA - 21st overall, 4th in the SEC
HR/Game - 24th overall, , 4th in the SEC
Runs - 12th overall, , 4th in the SEC
SLG - 12th overall, , 3rd in the SEC
Walks - 24th overall, , 4th in the SEC
Hits - 24th overall, , 5th in the SEC (2 teams ahead of us had 3 more hits but played 1 more game)

This team has an issue, but it isn't the bats.

Exactly. The line up is fine. People don’t understand that hitting has a lot to do with getting in a rhythm and capitalizing on momentum. Deep counts, 5-6 walks and a few errors every game really extend defensive innings. There were times last night where our hitters had to wait 40+ minutes for their next AB. That’s brutal. IF a few guys on the staff step up it’ll go a long way in helping the lineup produce even more.

As we continue the SEC schedule, those numbers will look worse and worse.

Everyone talked like they were the 95 Yankees and the fact of the matter is they ain’t but a mediocre bottom of the sec team that continues to embarrass themselves with shitty infield play
