I could see 9-3. I think the OL has a lot to do with it and the LB/DL. I am concerned with Leavitt and his injury progression and the lack of snaps he will get to learn the new system. I hope he is really smart and maybe hits the VR room a lot to pick it up. He is the major concern.

Exactly! Money doesn't have anything to do with it (said no one)

For the 20 plus mil we are paying the staff plus the 35-40 mil roster, plus the 10s of millions we paid to get rid of Kelly it had better not be a rebuild year. The playoffs and competing for titles are the expectations on a yearly basis. We arent spending 100 million dollars this year(granted the Kelly money is spread out) to not make the playoffs.

The question is, what does an elite roster look like in this era of half the team being new every year? No one knows they just assume. Gonna make for exciting times and teams rising from the ashes to compete for titles. Cant project chemistry and everyone is losing talented depth. Injuries will be paramount to whos a contender and whos not. Gonna be lots of millions wasted around the country this year. Lot of schools spending major money for there only to be 1 winner.

Team Talent and Team Chemistry aren’t the same thing. Hopefully the culture change can happen quickly but this team is made up of very few players who played together last year. How soon can SL start throwing with the WRs? Who will be the leader in the football Ops before the coaches? Who will be the leader when adversity strikes?

I think a better question is, will we have Charlie Weiss Jr after next season? He was already being looked at for NFL and with another productive year at OC he may jump at the opportunity if it comes calling again..

Compete? Yes. Win the SEC? No. Be in the playoff? Probably not. But can we compete and be a fun team to watch next season? Yes but still got a long way to go on the OL before we could be that type of team.

In today's current landscape, pretty much any team with enough money can go from terrible to playoffs in a year. I think playoffs are realistic next year.

Our tough schedule might not be so tough next year that’s impossible to project at this point

Need another LB, CB, and a few good OL for me to believe we're going to have a chance at a playoff run.

Also will be working out kinks of a new system against Clemson week 1. I know they're not Clemson of 10 years ago, but it will be a test for a new coaching staff. Wish we had a cupcake before them.

Then we have 1 easy game against McNeese before traveling to Oxford, which will be a fricking whirlwind due to Lane.

With the turnover every year basically every year could be considered a rebuilding year but a better term would be reloading.
The amount of money being spent on coaches , rosters and recruiting, programs and coaches don’t have time and can’t afford to rebuild

Right. Who would have guessed this years schedule would be as hard as it was?

Looking at the schedule and all of the uncertainty, including the health status of Leavitt, I'm thinking folks should expect 3 losses next year. I'm not saying that's best-case scenario, but that is a reasonable expectation of success.

That may or may not get us to the playoffs but that record with solid, improving play as the season progresses is what I'm expecting.

Still need a couple top tier Olineman at minimum to really contend. Also need a tier 1 edge rusher. Need an experienced LB and an additional DB for depth purposes to round out the roster but the Oline is an absolute must or it will tank the season.

Indiana
2023, 3-9

Cignetti hired
2024, 11-2, playoffs
2025, 15-0, possibly NC

So it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Yes, schedule is tough. But if Leavitt healthy I wouldn’t rule out a playoff spot.

Except McMahon. He just needs about 8 years to get this thing back on track

In today’s era of college football, there are no true "rebuilding years." With NIL and the transfer portal, you can reload every offseason and address any area of need year in and year out

Why not? This will be the best LSU defense since 2019. No shortage of skill players and a proven offensive system with a proven (if healthy) QB to run it. Need to keep pulling quality O-linemen in. The LSU brand is as hot as it’s ever been. They are the ‘70s Raiders, the 80s Hurricanes and the 90s Ravens reincarnated. Kids love that stuff. For better or worse they are the bad guys. Bad guys win football games.
