For one, after the Auburn game , BK could have made the decision to give Nussmeier at least a series in each half or give him the second and fourth quarters to see if that would somehow ignite this offense. If Nussmeier didn’t do well after a game or 2, then you can just relegate yourself to a shite year and stick it out with JD the rest of the year. That way you see both players perform in similar situations against the same defensive talent and make your decision after that. This is actually what should have happened between MB and JD and after the 2nd or 3rd game you would have found your true starter ( it would have been the guy who isn’t on the team anymore ).

Some had no idea as to how depleted our roster was. A lot of these same people look at a player and his rating out of high school and form an opinion as to his worth. We have/had a lot of guys who didn’t measure up to those ratings, but the same types keep acting as if we are more talented than most. We are not.

And then we haven’t been sound in a lot of areas. Some if it us team chemistry, some of it is coaching, but people expected more. I do too. The STs need to be improved. Coaching can do that. The O and D can be improved too, but you know all the coaching in the world can’t make us a contender overnight.

We were embarrassed,at home, by a team that was a four point favorite. A team with a suspect secondary, and we are loaded with future NFL WRs and we scored 13 points. Wonder what was the problem.

Losing in an embarrassing fashion isn’t something that should happen to LSU

People are not freaking about the loss itself. I think most people are anxious about whether this coaching staff is gonna be able to get it done or not. We've had all the deficiencies on the way the team has played in all 3 phases but it seemed like the team had turned the corner and started to somewhat improve on each. Then this game happened, and it's like every last single one of those deficiencies came right back again, as if no improvement whatsoever.

So that fuels everybody's anxiety that we are pretty much fricked with the wrong choice of coach for 10 years. Doesn't help that we face the coach this weekend that a bunch of people thought we should've hired.

It's not so much that Tennessee was so impressive but that LSU is so bad right now.

Looked like a group of 5 school out there.

Do you think all scholarship players on the LSU roster are elite guys? I am pretty sure it’s been backfilled to get us contingency players in the event they are called on to play. I imagine there will be some departures (unwillingly) as Kelly brings in more elite players to fill the roster. I try my hardest not to downplay the guys on the current roster because they are playing hard. Once Kelly gets his guys in place two years down the road he has to produce and be ready to answer tough questions.

The LSU roster is frankenstein right now. If you take what we had in the bowl game vs Kansas State minus even a few of those players, that's what he had to work with when he got here and had to fill all those spots. That's not an easy thing to do.

That's why I agree with everybody saying give the man two/three years before we really judge his ability. It's gonna take that long to get out of this hole we were dug into.

The hard part for everyone is to go through a season like 2019 and then two straight seasons like 2020/21 and now this season.

No one is saying the sky is falling. We are concerned that our team never takes the field prepared to play from the opening kickoff. We are always scrambling to get it together. This is a coaching issue and the coach seems to imply it’s a talent issue. We are concerned the coach may not be on top of things as he should. It is totally fine to be concerned when a team is not performing at its best.

It’s been discussed. There are a number of smaller things that are still concerning that aren’t just because we lost to Tennessee.

Have you not seen everyone else in the west not named Bama? I mean come on. LSU can definitely beat them all.

Lol....and then they finally played someone in the playoffs and get smashed. Their schedule has been a joke for a long time with USC having been down...Kelly no longer has that benefit. If you that was a good Evaluation by Kelly on this QB...well...

Did you not watch the defensive gameplan that Tenn had? Do you not expect teams to follow that plan? We will need to throw the ball down field to neutralize a stacked box. Are you comfortable JD can do that?

How many of the teams remaining on the schedule are as good as Tennessee on that side of the ball? Bama and maybe A&M. That’s it.

It is not that LSU lost. I'm sure most here realized that LSU would be fortunate to have a winning season. It is the ineptness in which we lost that bother most of us. LSU should be showing improvement every single game in what they can control. LSU took two steps backward against Tenn, and none of it was because of Tenn.
