Payton used to let Brees pick 5-10 plays he liked for the game plan every week, this isn’t weird at all
First thing I thought of after reading OP. I actually thought of this during the game, it must have been something the commentators said or something. Well it wasn't Brees picking the plays, but it was that CSP and Pete and Drew would all sit down and go over the plays for the gameplay one by one.

This is pretty common.

These are the head scratching plays that show why Sloan got let go from calling plays at LA Tech.
NO MORE of this "On the job Training" BS at LSU.
Hire only proven and experienced coaches.
BK been really bad at hiring and not hiring since he's been here.
Time running out now, so BK needs to "Shite or get off the Pot."

I mean, he is certainly going to call a perfect game. But I just dont think competition is his thing
Hes not a "go for the kill shot" kinda OC. Gives away loves, fishes, cloaks, cheeks, etc. You get the point

Sloan was not "let go" from LA. Tech. You people are idiots to say something that is blatantly untrue

Break out the sand box and a stick on the sidelines..

But this reeks of “most of you guys make more than most of the coaches so we’ll let you draw up some of your own plays”
Coach: OK we are going to roll the pocket to the left, then throw across to the other sideline, 3 yards short of the sticks
Team: We hate that play
Coach: Run it 7 times anyway

OU is gonna crush Nuss. They are smart and will confuse him. No coaching will save him or calling his own plays.
When Jay Johnson or any baseball coach asks the pitcher how he feels or what he feels comfortable throwing, isn’t he dictating what he is pitching??? Just curious

That’s exactly what it was. He said it was 4 Verticals with a check down

Coaching is placing your kids in a position to be successful… Milroe is not a drop back passer.

All teams do this. Anyone that played football knows this.
It doesn’t mean players call plays or make the gameplan.

LSU called one pass play 7 times vs. Vandy because Garrett Nussmeier liked the concept.
This sounds cool and all, but it’s terrible coaching if it took them 11 games to talk to the QB and see what plays he likes and what he is comfortable with.

Kelly is a smart coach. Players should NOT have the final word but obviously they have a perspective that coaches can't have trying to keep up with 11 matchups and every action the other team is doing on defense....same when the opponent has the ball BTW. I didn't realize that having 22 extra eyes on offense was a liability. Feedback from the actual players playing the game in not ridiculous. The only time it approaches that is the classic case where the WRer comes back to the huddle every play and says to the QB, "throw it to me, I'm open every play."
This is just one example why Kelly is a player's coach despite the myth he isn't.

No. We couldn't afford all that chapstick for the players.

Let’s not pretend this isn’t something that every team does.
I guarantee you Burrow had hesvy influence on 2019.
A QB knows what he likes. Receivers know when they feel most open. Etc…
Every team does this. Just wish we wouldn’t say it out loud.
