I believe that was a pretty strong statement he made putting the word "pro" in his comments. I would want proof or a retraction on his part.

Getting past that part of his comment, it was nice to realize that we have raised to a point where teams do not want to come to LSU for a game.

When Arizona played here it was really crazy how we were throwing them around like rag dolls.

If you recall, AZ p;layed LSU twice adn their OOC schedule is more than adequate as a whole. LSU, on the other hand, tends to shy away from consistently playing tough OOC opponents. I am not defending the statement. But I find it funny that LSU fans talk about how moronic it is when LSU admin steers clear of consistently playing tough OOC opponents, but coaches make statements stating that they do so.

You pay enough attention to LSU to know that over the last decade LSU has made a strong attempt to have at least one good OOC team every year. LSU has had informal agreements broken, second halves of home and homes pushed back, and teams just flat out break their contract.

If I had a choice in the matter I would not want to play LSU in Baton Rouge either. Why put your team through that sh*t when you dont have to.

Yeah, I guess this only seems to happen to LSU. Other perrenial top 5 teams seem to have no problem. Rotten luck on LSU's part.

you gotta love college presidents....

quote:

What about beating ASU?
" … ASU had a great year this last year. Credit where credit is due. We're not going to talk about academic standards or anything like that. Tip your hats to them. We've got to work harder."

backhanded compliment if ever there was one.

What a load of bullcrap. LSU might be one of the toughest places in America to play, but if you are an elite college program, that's EXACTLY the kind of challenge you want.

I'd love a home and home with LSU.
Beating LSU in Tiger Stadium has got to be a rush.

We play other in-state "weak" OOC opponents like Tulane, Louisiana Tech, and ULL....and win

USC plays weak in-state opponents like stanford and .....?

Or if Les Miles, the head coach of LSU, said he does not need to play tough OOC opponents (See SEC media week last year).

OOC, you don't. It is what it is. Someone made a comment about how stupid that AZ statement was and I pointed out that Miles made a very similar comment althogh not directed at a specific team. It is what it is.

Last time we went to your place:

#15 Southern Cal - at Los Angeles, Ca. (Los Angeles Coliseum) W, 23-3

Wasn't much of a rush, just another win for the Tigers.

We're not going to Baton Rouge and playing that pro team in LSU in their home stadium. I've been to that stadium, and you don't want to go and play there. Saw Alabama play LSU there.

+1

I like the way he presents the fact that LSU is a notch above most programs with the word "pro"!

Okay Tangelo, you do realize that under Miles, LSU hasn't lost to a 41-point underdog at home?

Is that the mark of a "perennial" Top 5 team?

Does not happen consistently. On a consistent basis, LSU's OOC schedule is quite poor.

That has about as much to do with this thread as LSU losing to Tulane 3 out of 4 years, once at home when Tulane was 3-7 and LSU was heading to the Orange bowl

The last time we played in Tiger Stadium was 1979, and it took all we had to beat you there. I think we'd have a great game if it were to happen again.

And I think the result would be similar. A USC win, albeit a close one.

We got whipped pretty bad in 84 in the Coliseum, it's true. I was there and Dalton Hilliard killed us. But times have changed, and I feel confident USC has the talent to stick it to anybody anywhere, including LSU in Tiger Stadium.

As for the chucklehead who asked who else we played in California, the answer is the team that whacked your SEC East Champs last season. The pot smoking hippies we love to hate, the Kal Bears.

Now put that in your bong and smoke it!
