Apparently she was asked to simplify the situation prior to the clip starting. ELI5 style.

Fascinating Twitter thread on how the internet / social media has been used during the invasion
Ex: google maps traffic showing Russian convoys, distribution of urban warfare tactics to Ukrainians by experts, distribution of Russian oligarch’s yacht locations, geolocation of munitions and my favorite new term “tactical shitposting”

Dude people might not be so all over you if you weren’t so cryptic. “Taiwan is the largest manufacturer of semiconductor chips and it would bad if China took it over and cut that off from their enemies” is much less inflammatory and gets to the point.
re: Director of Russia's space corp., Roscosmos, threatens to de-orbit ISS over U.S. or Europe
Posted by oob02 on 2/25/22 at 7:11 am to Roll Tide Ravens
He’s not threatening to de orbit the ISS. His point is only Russia has the capability of boosting the ISS (which it needs every so often because of atmospheric drag). Technically the Cygnus spacecraft has the capability to do this but I believe it’s 1. Not strong enough and 2. Launched with Russian engines on a Ukrainian first stage.
It is not in either NASA’s or Russia’s Roscosmos’ best interest to stop cooperation in human space fight. So, despite all of this, I suspect ISS cooperation will continue.
They absolutely do have that capability and just shot down a satellite a few months ago creating a debris cloud that spans all of Low Earth Orbit including the same orbit as the ISS.

Theres like 0% chance they have that capability anyway whereas we absolutely can shoot down whatever the frick we want with a snap of a finger

About half of my patients in the hospital incidentally have Covid (asymptomatic, has nothing to do with why they’re in the hospital, and we tested them JUST because they were being admitted). It has generally remained about that during omnicron wave. So I’d say that 40% number is roughly accurate, if not a bit low, based on my experience.

Internist here. I agree with this and JAFERD. Seizure unlikely given lack of post ictal period (confusion following a seizure). Hypoglycemia does not come on so suddenly. Vasovagal is unlikely to occur while sitting down unless bearing down like others have mentioned on a toilet. Given the pre-syncopal palpitations it is very likely ventricular arrhythmia, intermittent heart block or SVT. He needs an EKG, a cardiologist and a holter monitor / implanted loop recorder. He should have gone to the ER.
Hope you’re not Catholic because the epiphany was celebrated on January 2.

What would you recommend? Contacting the city first or have them come out and look at it first?
I would find your main line clean out. It’s going to be a PVC cap sticking out of the ground somewhere between your house and the road most likely. Open it. If it’s filled up with water, the blockage is distal to that. If not, it’s between there and your house. You may have additional clean outs that might be helpful if the clog is towards the house. You can try to snake it based off that. I was recently charged $400 for a similar issue where they used a water jet. All they are are glorified pressure washers with a long high pressure hose.
No one knows. The entire “space community” has been caught off guard. My best guess would be netflix has all the rights and is limiting what they show. Rumors are starting to grow in the void of information such as them possibly vomiting for the last 24 hours and they don’t want to show it. It certainly takes away from the “inspiration” part of the mission as well as the fund raising.
I have. Keeps giving me busy signal so figured I’d post here.

HELP NEEDED
I last heard from a friend in LaPlace an hour ago that they were trapped upstairs with her and her parents and water was quickly rising. They are at 153 Belle Grove Dr. If anyone is in the area with a boat to help it’d be appreciated!

40 years in practice means he has the same amount of experience as the rest of us with covid 19. With that said…I doubt his claim. This surge will be over. But covid will become endemic and be around for a very long time.

Thank you for service. Unfortunately convalescent plasma (what you donated) hasn’t worked as well as we hoped. Likely for reasons suggested in the article you linked that circulating antibodies drop dramatically after four months. I think that’s the origin of his comment, though he likely misinterpreted it.
The title of the article you linked is a bit misleading. You will likely have bone marrow plasma cells for life. That does not suggest 100% immunity. Most of us have plasma cells to the chicken pox virus. However, that immunity wanes as we get older and once it drops below a certain level, that same virus comes back as shingles. With all that said, you will likely not get SEVERE disease if you’ve had COVID before. But it may not prevent you from getting a mild to moderate form of the disease. Vaccination after natural infection will almost certainly prevent that…the number of boosters if any however is TBD

I would think your body fighting the actual virus would produce better immunity than getting a shot of the watered down virus. That being said, I'm nowhere close to a healthcare related field
Not sure it’s completely understood, but infectious inoculation dose may be playing a large part here. Perfect example: moderna is being shown to be better than Pfizer against delta variant despite being almost identical. Possible / likely reason? Moderna is simply a bigger inoculation.

Great - so you're saying "hospitals are full!" is a terrible argument for a mask or a vaccine mandate, and the data I compiled that shows zero correlation between cases and masks is what decisions should be based on.
I said nothing about masks. You’re not going to find me defending mask mandates. The data is weak to non existent though in general is an intervention with little risk.
ETA: and I have no idea how you’re connecting what I said to hospitals being full and vaccines.

After my sister had Covid, her doctor said that natural immunity + full vaccination is the gold standard and you can’t do better than that. Any truth to that?
Yes. Though the benefit of the second shot after natural infection is debatable but “can’t do better than that” is certainly true.

What purpose does the flu vaccine serve if you’ve ever had the flu before?
Flu strains are different each year. Vaccination against strains are different each year. Flu mutates at a MUCH higher rate than Covid.

I agree with many of you that it’s a failure of the CDC and public health officials in general that the nuance of previous infection has not been considered in mandates and vaccinate recommendations. As a physician who has had Covid, reviewed the data, and take care of covid patients daily this is what I have personally done and recommended to my family and friends:
If you’ve had Covid it’s completely reasonable to not get the vaccine for 8 months to a year. After that, you could get at least one shot. You can make an argument to not get a second and NO ONE who knows the data should fault your for it. Having COVID is like getting the first shot. Getting a shot after is like getting booster. Those who have had COVID and then had at least one shot are likely the best protected people out there.
