Still wondering if the cramping was real

I love this board

Divinity and Delpit went into the locker room and actually missed drives.

It was real

I once helped set up for an outdoor wedding on Lake Austin in July. It was so hot, I over heated and hallucinated. I was 24, and had been working out with a trainer to get ready for my own wedding a few weeks later.

I can totally believe the cramping. I will take Louisiana heat over Texas any day.

Maybe the players were fooled by the drier heat into thinking they didn’t need an IV bc they weren’t as sweaty as usual.

Think about it for a second we run a high tempo offense when you run a high tempo offense the downfall will and always will be your defense has to go right back out there so fast and 2 guys that came off the field was not because of cramps (divinity and Lawrence) these were actual injuries

The offense was not that high tempo. It didn’t huddle and went straight to the line, but it didn’t snap the ball until the play clock was under 5 seconds most times.

Plus, LSU’s usual offense didn’t stay on the field that long either so the players should be used to it.

It seems to me there is a general consensus among sports commentators/coaches, that the defense is the one to always get "gassed" as opposed to the offense, I'm guessing because defending takes a greater amount of energy/stamina to try to shed off a block, or defend a pass, than the offensive moves in football. If this is the case, then it seems the LSU defense(being more stout, in my opinion), causing the Texas offense to have to make many more attempts to score a touchdown(a staggering 19 play drive)our defense making Texas have countless 3rd down attempts, would clearly get us more "gassed" than the Texas defense defending our offense which was scoring very quickly(because of Burrow,OL, & our wide receiver's precise execution.) So, my take was that because our defense was better, and much harder for Texas to score on, drawing out drives, and our offense only taking like 4 plays to go downfield and score, it actually hurt our defensive stamina, much more than Texas'. So our better defense actually caused us to be gassed much more than Texas' defense. I believe it was only LSU defensive players going down.

Thoughts?

Maybe they did the right thing and got their players iv's at halftime. And their defense w on the field less than ours.

That's exactly what I think happened.

It’s partially a weight to body mass ratio sort of an issue. The less water weight you carry the less water you get to keep in your body. I’ve been struggling with calf issues lately cause I’m older but lighter than I’ve been in two decades.

We gave them IVs at half. They just said that to cover up the fake cramping because they were exhausted

It happens, and my take away is that these guys were pushing to the max all night. I seriously doubt its a hydration issue, and I seriously doubt its a conditioning issue. I think its an issue of maxing out in these conditions, there are limits to performance.
but the point has been made clear- Texas wasn’t having the same issues at all. What did they do differently?

100 degree heat with full pads going wide open for 60 minutes. I bet you cant push a lawn mower

Most of those saying the cramps were faked probably never suited up in pads and played the game. Those that have probably sat the bench.

In no way is the argument the players vs us. The argument is our players vs Texas. I don't think anyone on here is internet hero enough to claim they wouldn't cramp up, they are asking why didn't Texas cramp up.

Combination of O refusing to give IVs at half time and Moffit.

It's time for Moffit to step up his game

It's not hard to understand if you just do research...I posted this on another thread and its warranted here...

LSU's two longest drives were 11 plays for 4:58 seconds and 10 plays for 2:54 seconds...BOTH in the FIRST HALF that total were only 8 minutes COMBINED

Texas starts the 2nd half off with a 19 play 7:17 second drive and then has another drive in the 2nd half, after back to back 7 play drives, that one goes for 10 plays for 6 minutes...so Texas' two longest drives were in the 2ND HALF that totaled over 13 minutes

All of LSU's second half drives were no longer that 6 plays with the longest one being 2 mins 44 seconds...

so there is no mystery to it...the Texas defense was on the field 7 less minutes than LSU's...

Your comment...bet you can't push a lawnmower" is cute....but our players dropping like flies, cramping" is a serious issue, we must find an answer to. Diet must be adopted!
