He's exceeded expectations and is very good.

I listen to alot of Baseball and Basketball. Can't speak on Football as I'm at Home games or glued to TV for away games.

Hawthorne had the most nasally voice I’ve ever heard from a play by play guy. He also butchered calls constantly. But he was one of us!

I think he's doing a nice enough job. He'll continue to get better.

In football, he take too long to give the important information: down and distance, was the catch a first down etc

Meh. Say what you want, but he's no Hawthorne. He was a little better in football this past season than my first impression of him.

But, really boring, generic, low energy.

(ETA: He's not bad for baseball.)

I feel like only Ponamsky could have started this thread to deflect from the Ensminger announcement.

No one will ever match the passion in broadcasting that Hawthorne had for the Tigers. Blair is the consummate professional, but I'll take passion over passivity during an LSU broadcast any day.

He's not Hawthorne. I don't dislike him I juset don't know how long it's going to take to get used to someone other than Jim . Sounds ridiculous I guess.

He clearly doesn't have the passion that Hawthorne had. He is very professional but his voice is not that unique and he sounds like he could be calling our game as the Westwood One neutral unaffiliated Play by Play man.

That's the trend in almost all of broadcasting now. :(

He’s very professional. That’s probably the best compliment I could give him.

Blair has an above average voice quality (deep, authoritative, articulate). In describing the action, average. In sounding passionate about the Tigers when there is a big play, below average.
I know that Hawthorne stole it from Harry Caray, but I'd love to hear at least one HOLY COW!!! for old time's sake.

Without reading the first reply, I'd bet every dollar I have that there are numerous people saying he sucks and they hate him.

Nobody hates LSU like LSU fans.

I've met him a few times really nice guy. Great voice. Just way to slow to communicate what's happening before his eyes. I give him a 6

Any by the way, Hawthorn was slagged every day on this Board. Now that he's gone all these guys are like, "I LOVED Hawthorn."

Well, I always liked Hawthorn and took up for him around here all the time. But when Hawthorn was in the chair in front of the mike, it was the same crap that people spew around here about Ogeron.
