Woe is me, I parked illegally and didn't think of the consequences.

LSU students and fans stand in the heat for their cars that were towed on game day

quote:

BATON ROUGE - A line of LSU fans and students stood outside Riverside towing service Sunday trying to get their cars back.

"We came back last night and I was going to just drive and my car was just gone," LSU student Lucy Brown said.

Lucy Brown's car was towed yesterday while she went to the LSU football game. Her mother had to come all the way from Eunice, to get the LSU student's car out of the impound.

Brown parked, at a friend's house, at an apartment complex, near Tiger Stadium. "I was confused because I thought we were parked legally and I felt like it was unfair, Brown said.

Riverside towing company alone towed more than 100-cars, during the LSU game, that is not including the dozens towed by other companys.

Ethan Johnson came in from Lake Charles for the game, and his car was towed after he parked in visitor parking at a friends apartment.

"We had to call at least 3-different numbers just to figure out where our car was and it's going to cost about 280 dollars to get ours out," Johnson said.

The owner of the tow truck service says, he has a contract with several apartment complexes near Tiger Stadium to remove illegally parked cars, they become a problem during LSU home games.

"I think it's awful because it's a bunch of poor college kids," Johnson said. Johnson believes he should have been warned, not to park, at his friend's apartment complex. "They sent out an email the day we got towed, no warning sticker, no anything like that," Johnson said.

I call BS on the "poor college kids".

To be fair, there is some grey areas about the visitor parking at an apartment complex. What if you were actually visiting the friend at his apartment and not tailgating and then they tow your car. Id be pissed.

A couple of years ago when LSU played Florida, I met a few friends at BWW and had a few beers before walking to the stadium. I got pretty loaded at a tailgate afterwards and decided not to drive home, leaving my car at BWW's to be safe. Yep, I got towed by Riverside. Myself, along with about 30 others were waiting in line at noon Sunday to get my car. That's what I get for being safe.

Buffalo Wild Wings had less customers because you took a spot there. Are you going to recoup their lost income? You could have been responsible and moved your vehicle prior to becoming intoxicated.

Use Uber or Lyft on Gameday. Simple fix.

Here you go again acting likedbag about towing.

If people were in visitor parking at apartments that's not at scrub arse bdubs.

By the way you're argument is a joke. You can't prove that those same potential patrons of bdubs decided not to go instead of simply walking further to get there on their way to the game.

Do you not have any idea how many cities there are where people have to go to a parking lot and walk? Bourbon street should sue for all the business they lose when people park near their establishments and then go go the aquarium right?

One more reason to stay home and watch the game.

The cost of the game day experience isn't worth it unless you're pulling in six figures.

I mean, who cares about visitor parking at an apartment complex? I could see if the person had parked in one of the resident parking spots, but a visitor is a visitor unless they always have 2 hours or less parking or something like that in the visitor parking spots.

I mean, Lyft is the “OFFICIAL” ride share partner of LSU sports.

From a managerial standpoint, there’s no way to prove you’re a legit visitor to a complex using a visitor parking space as you should be. I don’t see why more complexes don’t make hard to duplicate visitor parking passes for gameday. Pretty sure Tiger Manor does.
