Would rather watch paint dry than watch WBB.

An average boys HS bball team would beat LSU wbb by 30

My question is, which size basketball would they use? Which only further proves the point, it is literally two different games with a different set of rules and equipment.

I am not bashing women's basketball but to even compare it to the men's game is futile.

This simply isn't the case for anyone that is still mildly athletic and has played basketball competitively.

I used to play pickup with a few of the guys on the "Gold Team." The Gold Team was a group of guys that would scrimmage the women's team during practice. A scout team if you will. I played with them a few times when they needed an extra guy. We could have named our score against them if it were truly a scrimmage. Of course, it was mostly situational work and our purpose was not to kick their arse but to help them prepare for their next opponent.

I am 6’4” and played guard.

Starter on an average HS team. Just above .500. No thoughts of playing college ball except in LSU rec league.

I promise you that with all of us in our primes neither Simone Augustus nor Sylvia Fowles could beat me in one on one or outplay me in 5 on 5. And they could pick any other woman on the planet and my 3 on 3 team would have destroyed them.

That is because you are lucky if you can get anyone who can shoot worth a damn. Unlikely you can get five.
I give these ladies credit. They can shoot.

For the record, I played some touch football just outside of South Stadium in the fall of 1986.

That's all.

I'm happy the women are doing well. But I do agree the sport is tough to watch IMO. If the girls played a highly ranked boys high school basketball team, the women would get detroyed. That isn't a knock on the women. Just the athleticism is much different.

If you had to choose between watching 2 random women’s and 2 random men’s college teams play, would you pick WBB?
Every time.

Men's basketball is unwatchable. I could walk down to any inner city street corner and watch that mess. Rules change with every possession. Referees have more impact on the outcome than in any other major sport.

That being said, women's basketball was much more watchable before they tried to make it more like the men's game.

it's very interesting you say that.

I'm not the poster you were responding to, but I also played pickup ball in the Field House back in the 80s and played once against Joyce Walker. In fact, I'm a guard so I guarded her.

Now, I'll admit she was better than I expected, but she was an All-American and I was just a high school player, but she didn't get the better of me.

So your assertion that a current WBB player would embarrass someone in one-on-one, well, I guess that depends on the guy. If the guy was even a decent high school player, well, I'd put my money on the guy.

And by the way, that's not a shot at the women. It's just different - much like the boys high school team dominating the US Women's Soccer team.

Men are bigger, stronger, faster, and can jump much higher. Those are just facts.

I remember playing pickup in the Field House back then too .. not against Joyce but with Prop 48 Stanley Roberts. He was OK. I dunked on him (in my dreams). :)

A random guy? Yes. A good boys high school basketball player? No.

And before the hate begins, I like WBB and I love Seimone Augustus. She is my 3rd favorite LSU Basketball Player behind Shaq and CJ. I loved watching her play.
