Mullen also did us a major solid that night by pulling red hot Trask and putting in Emery Jones for a series in the second half.

Totally forgot about that. Shades of DJ Shockley coming in for the 1st UGA game in 03. Our defense are him alive.

Also shades of Saban/ Jimbo pulling Randall for JR at Auburn in 04 after Randall had come out looking good and taking us to a TD.

He didn’t pull him. He got nicked up or had to take a dump or something. He ran into the locker room for about 15 mins and was not available. The whole south end zone was pointing at him and watching him jogg in like it was a fight in the student section.

Trask was also a great college QB so...

Underrated aspect of 2019 team is how many “NFL caliber” QBs they actually faced… Potentially 11 QBs “drafted”, w/ 4 currently NFL starters & 2 currently solid NFL #2’s.

What happened from TAMU on?

I remember a couple times with injuries and suspensions that hurt them.

They gave up 28 to a VERY good UF team and scored 42 with York missing a 36 yd FG.

The offense was really efficient which left the defense on the field a lot more and Mullen wanted to shorten the game. 28 to a good team isn’t bad at all.

It's an LSU tradition--3rd & ...
It was never an LSU Tradition until we hired Chavis and the Tennessee fans came over to "fill us in" on 3rd and Chavis. Now it seems every DC we get is "3rd and [DC NAME HERE]"

That’s why I never understood Mullen’s firing.

Admin couldn’t stand him.
They were looking for any chance to get rid of him.

Dave Aranda was not 3rd and Aranda...jesus christ. Chavis got that nickname because of multiple seasons having issues giving up 3rd downs.

House had the worst defense in the history of LSU and got that nickname. Aranda was actually an elite Coordinator and anybody putting Aranda into that comparison is an idiot.

Go look at what his defense did in the Championship holding Clemson to 0 3rd down conversions. His defenses were very good during his tenure and in 2019 the issues were more due to turmoil between Ed O and Aranda. From the Arkansas game on the defense was very good to great. Jesus Christ.

Not only did Mullen quit recruiting he was openly saying in interviews he wasn’t recruiting either

The nail on the coffin was when he made a comment at a press conference that he was going back to recruiting "next year" (or some comment similar to that).

His decision making with stupid comments also got him in trouble.

If LSU had Aranda’s 2019 defense in 2023, you are looking at an SEC West Championship and a possible CFP appearance.

Just so we’re clear on how stupid the OP is, opponent’s 3rd down conversion rate was 29.58% in 2019.

That was good for 6th in the nation.

Isn’t ‘the O’ here intended to mean the offense?… I.e. Joe Brrr and the offense flat out ourscored people

Just a play on words. Most of the Aranda detractors are Orgeron lovers.
Once his players learned their positions in Aranda's D, 2019 was pretty good.
Sure would've been nice to have half as good a D in in '23 instead of needing the last possession to outscore most opponents.

Kyle Pitts ate Derek Stingley alive on the first half.

Stingley lost focus after 2019, with injuries and such.

Guys like you are just idiots. Every team LSU played this past year had 3rd and whoever their DC was. Or maybe LSU just played well. Aranda was a top tier defensive coordinator. But of course if you are the man in the arena part of the job is listening to buttholes like TigerProphet criticize you.

We were 31st in total D
21 in Rush D
32 in scoring D
7 in pass eff D
and yes 6th in third down conversion D

OP is all wet
