Procell...
A group of folk from Jonesboro followed the Ebarb team...chipping in for the team dinners and such.
I remember the coach of the team took it on a rotating basis...it was the Ag teacher's turn when Greg was a senior...
Think Bum Phillips in the wrong venue or a white Nolan Richardson...
I think Greg's brother was also on that team...

Hi-C Carter was a stud with Redemptorist in the late 70's and could shoot from anywhere and over and around anyone. Another stud was Hot-Rod Williams. I didn't get to see all the old-schoolers back in the day, this was the closest I got.

tell me more about the 91-94 woodlawn br team. i went to woodlawn from 57-69 (yep, all 12 years) and saw woodlawn win the state championship (class A at the time) in 1965 with charles savell and duane floyd. did the 91-94 team win the championship? just curious... been away from br since 86.
thanks

Randy Livingston. I played with him and won a title with him. He was the best. Best passer and team player I ever saw. Had some Michael in him, but he was Magic all the way. Made everyone else better, literally.
Gatorade national player of the year twice. Shared the award with Rasheed Wallace his Junior year and Jason Kidd his senior year.

This question is really impossible to answer. I watched Greg Procell play and that guy could make jump shots from anywhere on his half of the court. On the other hand, I saw Robert Parish, who was really not a post man in high school, but a great player (became somewhat better in college and significantly better when he got to Golden State). Then, there were guys all sizes in between. I would guess Carl Malone and the guy who went to UH would be among the greatest overall. I guess my point is that one could only name a group of greatest players, not a single individual.

Louisiana all-time leading scorers

Thanks for the info.
I consider myself lucky to have watched Greg Procell and "Tootsie Roll" Meshell play a few games in HS. Greg was a super star in highschool, wild as an indian during the games. I have often wondered what the "three pointer" difference would have made. Talked to Greg recently, he left coaching and is an oil field salesman making more money than he ever expected to make. He gave his life to Christ and is also a salesman for Him as well. I actually practiced and worked out with Jackie Moreland when he was getting in shape to play for the New Orleans pro team. His elbows hurt when he drove down the middle. It also hurt when he passed away. I went to see Robert Parish play at Woodlawn and Centenary.
I loved it all. It was fantastic.

I can only speak on who I saw personally.
Andrew Brown from Vandebilt Catholic was the best I've ever seen. He scored 4125 points in high school, good for 8th in LA history.
He was about 4 years ahead of me in school. I was in high school around the time of Duhon, Torris Bright, and Hollis Price, who were ALL on that list in that link provided on the 1st page. I can say that Andre Brown did things that none of those 3 guys ever did in high school.
Then he went to Seton Hall and flamed out, lol.

You mean Andre Brown... He was a stud I played against him my junior year.. Here was our draw in the playoffs. Round 1: Vandebilt Cath (Andre Brown) Round 2: Iowa (Clereance Ceaser)Round 3: Newman (Randy Livingston).. We ended up losing to Newman by 3.. We actually watch game film of Andre Brown scoring 73 before the game he was a pure shooter, but Ceaser and Livingston were both better all around players than Brown imo.

where did you play Bobby?

Magic Johnson said Randy Livingston was probably the best high school point guard ever. Not just in Louisiana, but the entire nation.
