Time for an injunction with a Baton Rouge judge
Our turn
Our turn

I believe they would not announce this if it wasn't already worked out internally that he would be given eligibility. I am not a fan of this signing, even if it would help LSU immensely. I don't know all the details, but let's not pretend we would not be screaming in anger if this man signed with another SEC school.

He signed a 2 way contract last year in the NBA. I’d be surprised if he’s eligible given that the guy Bama signed was eventually ineligible
RJ Luis never played in a G League game. Charles Bediako played in some G league games so it was a no brainer that he’d be ineligible. This could get interesting.

That's the beauty of being a fan. Logic doesn't apply.
Eta: maybe we can get LeBron too

LSU didn't announce technically. His deal probably has to go through a clearinghouse before the school can push it out there, and he has almost no chance of getting cleared by the NCAA. LSU's betting on a judge being friendly with them and getting Luis cleared which has a decent chance of happening

This looks cut and dry to me.
ELIGIBLE
ELIGIBLE

Wade tried to get him to NC State last year and couldn’t swing it with the ncaa

That was Ole Miss' entire approach with Chambliss and it worked
Texas Tech is about to try it with Sorsby

He’s not a PG. He averaged 2 assists a game in college. He’s a SF that shoots about 31% a game from 3 which is why he went undrafted. He is a good athlete, a definite dog on the defensive end. I do find it interesting tho that the Celtics thought enough of him to trade a veteran NBA player in George Niang for him.
If he’s eligible he will be among the top players in the SEC next year. I’ll be shocked if he is tho. If 2 way contract guys that haven’t played in an NBA game are deemed eligible to return to college (and 5 for 5 hasn’t even passed yet and won’t be retroactively done from I’ve read), it’d open up a ton of potential players.

correct
he signed a two-way deal and entered the draft which means he gives up his NCAA eligibility. in this day and age of college sports I dont know if that means anything anymore, not the same scenario as Bediako or Nnaji considering he never played a g-league game but was used as part of an NBA trade

There is zero chance the NCAA will rule him eligible. Will end up before a judge.

I see no possible way this man is eligible. This would be unprecedented and not in a good way.

Good grief.
We have so many in our own fanbase that pull against LSU. So bizarre.

That’s true he had season ending groin surgery. I still think the 2 way deal he signed with the Jazz is gonna be hard to get around. And 5 for 5 wouldn’t apply to him either

I personally agree, just unsure of whether that happens.
The NCAA will rule him ineligible and Luis will file a lawsuit in a Louisiana court with a judge who graduated from LSU looking for an injunction to play while the courts work on a full case. the injunction may or may not get approved but I do think the court's final decision will be ineligible after the full lawsuit is heard

Absolutely nowhere in ballpark of reality with that comment. Supporting LSU and also wanting to do it inside the scope of reality are not binary. Your post is ignorant. This is like saying you want LSU to hire a convicted felon to play QB but if he's good enough you won't care. Obviously this is hyperbolic, but the congruency remains.

just get the injunction and then push the full lawsuit to the Tuesday after we win the National Title, problem solved.
