Myles has terrible pocket awareness

Except he picked up two first downs with his feet. Max had -27 rushing yards

You might want to go back and look up the definition to the word 'terrible'

Wasn’t overly impressed with either.

Both will play this season, which isn’t a great thing, but hopefully one establishes themselves.

I've been pulling for Myles bc he's a local kid and stuck with the program, but based on what I saw from those clips Max shows better touch, accuracy and mobility.

There's still quite a long way to go, but right now I'd give the edge to Max.

Max Had a wide open TD on the 4th down goaline play if he throws to Moore. Looked like it was a designed rub play almost. He needs to pick up on that.

Was wondering if anyone else saw that!!

It was obviously a designed rub play watch it a couple more times, not hard to see as you obviously did!

Why that was his first read I have no clue, but Moore was definitely open and easy TD if Max was paying attention

My impression that both suffered equally from bad offensive line performance.

Myles Brennan — 16-of-24, 212 yards
Joe Burrow — 15-of-25, 159 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int

^2019 Spring Game

It was a scrimmage. Don't look too much into it.

My biggest takeaway is Deculus still looks like a complete liability. Slow, out of shape, no technique.

It’s a little bit an odd play. It had what looked like a goaline fade on one end and a rub on the other. Both are usually 1 read plays. I imagine when we ad more motion into the offense they will be keying in the man in motion on Moore and that should be a huge green light to the QB

Myles' 50/50 balls look more like 70/30.

I'm good wit it.

IMO, it will be interesting to see if Brennan (quietly) pushes the staff for a early decision as to who will be the starter. Even if that decision isn't stated publicly. "Early" as in the next month or so.

Brennan only has two years of eligibility remaining. One has to presume that if he isn't going to be the starter this year in favor of younger player then he may want to take his chances at another school. And if he has to transfer he seemingly would want to do it sooner rather than later to maximize what remains of his eligibility. If he were to transfer in the next month or so he could likely start elsewhere in 2021 (ala Joe Burrow in 2018). But if we get to mid-August and it turns out Johnson will be the starter then Brennan is somewhat screwed for the 2021 season. A mid-August transfer would almost assuredly mean he would have little shot of starting at a new school, thus effectively wasting one of his two remaining years of eligibility if he hopes to be a starting QB somewhere for those two years.

If you watch both videos closely you'll see that Max scans the field on a much more consistent basis than Brennan. There were times where Max turned his head to scan the entire field. The most I saw from Brennan was half the field.

The only stats I was interested in was how each QB performed against the number 1 defense. Brennan out performed all by a country mile.

Anyone who thinks the competition is over based on this one glorified scrimmage is lying to themselves.

Here’s the good news: we look to have 2 guys that have a strong command of the offense. So no matter who wins the job, we should be in good hands.

A lot of programs would be happy with our 3rd and 4th QB.

I was trying to pay attention to the QB’s but I couldn’t stop seeing #53 molesting Deculus.

Without a real running game, the defense had the advantage big time. Both Qb's were under constant pressure and the defensive backfield played light out other than a few plays. Neither Qb won the job with their performance in the game. Both threw balls that should have or could have been intercepted. Finley and our freshman had good and bad moments. This thing will go down to the wire. Just think how it would have looked if blitzing would have been allowed. Boutte is the real deal. We need our running backs on campus. Without a running game to balance things could make for a long season.

You're also missing the throws with precise touch to get it over defenders and landing into Kirklin's hands. Not to mention on his long bomb he was being being pressured by two guys on top of him and still launched the ball 40+ yards on target.

Myles got a TD on a fake spike and threw a 50/50 ball to Boutte that required a circus catch.

Agree on the first point. The fake spike was utterly meaningless. The defender clearly never saw it or wasn't fooled.
