Lincoln Riley changed his mind at the last minute and Scott got desperate for a coach with a name. Shoulda just hired Lane then lol.

Woodward is a libtard. He was just after big names and not looking at the cultural or professional fit. That is why he is unemployed. LSU has a football man as AD for the first time since Paul Deitzel was AD.

Scott's hire fell through at the last minute and he needed a big name fast. He looked the other way with Brian Kelly and hired the name instead of the coach.
Yep!

He probably didn't vet him. He for sure didn't talk to enough people from Notre Dame, they had BK figured out.

Josh Pate said it best, Kelly ignored the "L" in LSU.

It’s hilarious how many people on this board defended BK like their life depended on it, while also trashing other coaches such as Lane Kiffin.

I wasn't thrilled with the fit from the jump and was proven right. People wanted to crap on the media making "fit" a talking point and they were dead on.

What? No. I have no animosity towards Coach O, even though his era ended the way it did. His team was still fun to watch compared to the last two Brian Kelly teams, and he gave us 2019. He didn't handle his success very well at all, but let's not pretend the world was not falling apart when his program fell apart. Not saying that's an excuse, but he definitely had a lot working against him when trying to follow up the best season in college football history.
I like him.

It's pretty clear we were just an early retirement check to Kelly and maybe he collect a title in the process if his assistants did all the work and put together a miracle 2019 type team for him.
Didn't happen, got fired and off to retirement with Woodward's ridiculous contract in tow.
This is why I hate these fully or near fully guaranteed contracts now, especially for an older coach like Kelly. What is the incentive to do well outside of shear pride of yourself? You dont do well, you still collect basically your full contract amount anyways and you've been in coaching so long you dont need anything else or to find another job.

We were probably never going to get any mitigation from the contract buyout, but this sure as hell put the nail in the coffin on it.

I did not have alignment as a fan

On paper, I thought the hire had potential. I think everyone, including Scott, miscalculated the hunger and drive he had to get that elusive natty. He had one thing missing from his resume, and was at a place with all the resources to do it. You don’t become the winningest coach at ND with a shitty work ethic.
Thats why it surprised me when we started hearing rumors of him checking out, playing golf and not giving a shite. Seems like at the end there was just so much disconnect.

Verge should be acting as BK's PR team, telling everyone how he was a wonderful coach who could still be successful if someone would just hire him. Instead, we make sure everyone knows about the affair, drinking, golf, vacations, and being an a-hole.
Everybody knows his coaching days are over. BK is too arrogant to take a step down to a lower tier program where it would require him to put even more work to recruit and win 8 or 9 games... and no top tier program is going to hire a lazy BK at 65 years old.

I understand fans don’t like BK, but why would a high ranking person publicly say these type things. Praise current coaches and LSU, keep it professional.
