i think this is where our offense exploits Clemson's defense. in 2018, Clemson had a fantastic DL. Their two best pass rushers from a year ago are in the NFL, which is why they will have to rely on the blitz to get pressure. this will create 1:1 matchups, which favor our WR/TE over their DB, especially their safeties.

Burrow has done an excellent job all season with blitz recognition and making reads. our OL has also been amazing giving Burrow time to throw. Venables will have to blitz, which will create the big, explosive plays and create the separation between LSU and Clemson. IMO

Lawrence is a great QB in his own right, but Burrow is just on another level.

LSU 42 - Clemson 27

Everything about the offense (coaches, players) has shown me that they absolutely won't be denied.

I've tried all year to find something to complain about on our offense, but have given up.

It's just a fact that I believe they will beat any defense that lines up across from them. Clemson has the very last shot to do it after six other ranked teams failed to do so. Can Clemson do it?...

I can't wait to find out. And I absolutely do not believe that Clemson is anywhere near the toughest defense we've seen this year. Venables is the X factor, with brilliant scheming, but personnel will be the issue. I really don't know if they have the dogs to even slow all the myriad weapons that LSU has on offense.

Yeah, this is where they think they’ll get Burrow, though. Using disguise, look blitz, drop back, force turnovers. Won’t work, though. About to drop his balls all over the field.

Georgia brought pressure...didn’t work
3 man rush...didn’t work
Man coverage...didn’t work
The question is whether or not Clemson has the ability to get more than 6 td’s, because LSU is going to get at least 42 points. No gimmicks needed either.

The coaching matchups in this game are pretty great.

Brady/Ensminger vs Venables. Aranda vs Elliot/Scott. O vs Dabo

This will probably be a classic.

I don’t think they will start the game blitzing but will throughout the game. I think they will do a similar job as Georgia tried on defense. That’s to give Joe and this offense all types of different looks, blitzes and coverages to try to confuse and slow it down. They may be somewhat successful but we’ve seen it already as well. It’s the best chance they will have and may work at times but not enough.

You can bet that this Clemson offense will come out as aggressive as they’ve been all year also because they will need to be. I think they will come out just like Georgia did but think they can and may be more successful on offense and defense. We will see. It’s going to be a good game for a while but I think LSU ends up stopping them and we keep scoring. We get a few scores ahead and they press a little and make mistakes. It think Aranda and this defense will have something special for them as well though. You can also bet that Ed O, Ensminger and Brady will be just as aggressive if not more so.

We comin! Go Tigers!

They have not faced tempo, press man to man, or a pass first spread offense at all this year.

Yes, he will bring pressure and play zone behind it, which is probably the best way to defend LSU if you do not have a NFL studs on the line. He will hope to get an early INT to swing momentum. Clemson had 3 INT's on opponents first drives this year, probably partly due to BV and his schemes.

The way Clemson will bring pressure is the same way we bring pressure. The closest thing to Clemsons defense in scheme is Florida and LSU.

Joe is very familiar with this sort of thing.

To be fair, OSU went tempo early with a lot of success - pretty much all the points in the first half. It allowed dobbins to break those long runs. I expect us to go warp speed as well.

Can’t blame Clemson, not sure who would be equipped to stop that.

much of the 'exotic' blitzes can be dealt with by fast pacing the snap. lsu has done this very well this year at times and when necessary

Great analysis and this is certainly part of the reason we’ll win this game early....but we’re gonna hang over 50 on ‘em.

having CEH ready to go is a big boost for this game.
i could imagine Burrow dumping off to CEH just behind their pressure for some big plays.

Auburn was able to do more b/c they could generate pressure with just their front 4. I don't think this year's Clemson group is good enough to do that. Last year, they for sure would have been. This year, they need to mix up where their pressure is coming from and Venables is known for his blitz/pressure packages.

Either way, should be a very interesting chess match.
