I think that play call was his way of shutting the fans that were cheering for JL up. Kinda like him saying "could JL do that"

We've used a few Florida plays that Billy G has implemented in several games the past couple years. I believe we tried the jump pass last year but it didn't work, we've also done a few of those shovel pass plays

Using the Tebow jump pass against Florida...

That was GREAT!
. . . and about as "in your face" as it gets.

LSU Tigers deal Florida Gators their most lopsided loss in 15 years

. . . . . The dagger came about a minute later. .

Lining up in the shotgun, Jordan Jefferson ran forward, an apparent sneak. He then pulled up and left the ground, shoveling the ball to a wide-open Mitch Joseph in the end zone. The jump pass.

When Florida debuted that play with Tim Tebow in 2006, it did so in a win against LSU. Defensive tackle Jaye Howard thinks the play came from Tigers receivers coach Billy Gonzalez, who left Florida on bad terms after the 2009 season.

“That was tough that they did it against us,” Howard said. “I looked at Billy G on the sideline and he was laughing.”

Nobody on the other sidelines was.

I loved it.

Oh, and how is scoring arrogant? LSU scored 41. LSU wasn't throwing 50 yard passes late in the game aka UF and Spurrier in 93.

Was Les trying to make some sort of point?

I think he was just trying to score a touchdown, nothing more nothing less. Knew he had a play that had a good chance of working in that situation and used it.

Six points to be precise. Among other things, it was probably the last play the Gators—or any other team—would expect from Les and JJ on a 3rd-and-goal. I don't think payback had anything to do with it--payback is worth nothing ... but a totally unexpected play can be worth 6--as it was in this case.

Yes and a fine one it was.

Could it be our coach is actually becoming ARROGANT?

I dunno, could it be that since Crowton's departure clock mismanagement appears to be a distant memory? Could it be if at any time, no matter how insignificant in a game, LSU has any kind of clock related issue at all the fan base will start its usual bitchin' and moaning about Miles alleged "incompetence", etc.? Just a thought...

The Tebow jump pass was, in a word, poetic.

Miles is a true genius and poetry drips from many of his decisions, actions, and words.

I loved it. The first time Tebow did it was against LSU and it was his first TD pass also, I believe.

Payback is sweet.

Arrogant?! Really?
It only shows that Miles and his team can have fun while taking care of business. In times when college football has become business like with top dollars playing a big role, coaches being uptight and douchebags, the sheer joy of playing the game of football is diminishing, seeing Miles and his team is refreshing. Everybody including the national media has come around in the last few years. Some of our fans will be the last though!

I couldn't help but just sit down and laugh my arse off when the jump pass was called. It was too perfect to run against Florida.
