LSU-USC is a matchup of teams hoping to get back into the mix.

You're looking at this in football wins and losses. For USC fans, it's a 4 hour drive to Vegas, and LSU fans are gonna travel to a party destination like Vegas. The game is going to be a huge money maker.

I am by far the most negative LSU man in the religious fan base, and I have nothing but faith in Blake Baker and Bo Davis putting a defense together that will make Lincoln run back to the hey by halftime. BK is letting us get the weekend of a lifetime. BK is an LSU man through and through

Not a big fan of schedling a top ooc team the first game of the season. Why? In a 12 team playoff the Florida State loss the last 2 years would be devastating. You play in the SEC, you don't need to schedule these games.
nobody likes cupcake games.

Good coaches have their teams ready to go week 1.

Third year in a row bulletin board material comes out for our week 1 opponent. Now they are fired up and we thinking we won before the game was played because of this article.

Look at the big programs playing big week one games - Georgia-Clemson, Penn State-West Virginia, Florida-Miami, Notre Dame-Texas A&M. Nothing wrong with LSU being in that category. No reason for us to be scared of anybody.

Losing Caleb Williams was probably a factor but LSU has a new QB as well and a pretty lousy defense from last year

I'm sure LSU could have found a replacement opponent

Ok, I'm an LSU fan and a homer- but Texas at Michigan and Geogia-Clemson are fricking HUGE.
Texas and Michigan is not a week one game.

Most people expect UGA to beat Clemson down.

In reality, Notre Dame/TAMU, UF/Miami, and LSU/USC are the three big games week one outside of the UGA game.

ND/TAMU already has gameday, but i think the LSU and UF games are going to be the most watched that weekend.

ehhh....Michigan finally had a good year....they will fall off this year. Texas is Texas. LSU has more NC's than those two combined this quarter century.
They are overrating the hell out of Texas. I knew this would happen because this is exact how the media gets if the Cowboys ever do anything.

The only thing LSU should have entertained in regards to changing the schedule is having USC change it from a one off neutral site to a home and home with LSU getting the first home game this season

Actually here’s the deal Lincoln.

We’ll gladly move the game to your preferred network. The only thing is that the game will now be played at Tiger Stadium as a one time game. No return trip.

since a loss in the first game can eventually cost the whole season .

I don’t recall this happening - ever. I’ve never looked back at a first game loss and thought that without that we would have had a great season. The reason we lose first games is because we have shitty teams that go on to have shitty seasons they would have had even if they had not played that first game.

One of your best examples would be last year. We might have only lost two games during the season had we played a patsy instead of Florida State. But then we would have played in a better bowl game against a better team and we would have gotten our asses whipped.

I get your sentiment, but remember Saban saying that a good week1 opponent helped with team focus in Summer practices.

The opponent is in same boat, unless they get a week0 game, which has really burned us. That is the scenario we should avoid.

We have a new coaching staff, which can go along way in improving the abomination we saw last year.
