No. It is a post that proves our fans watch the games and how Welter holds on to the ball carrier and gets dragged 3 yards downfield. He lacks the physical talent needed at MLB and his "coach on the field" mental game will never make up for poor play. Unless Welter got twice as good this offseason as last season, then he should not see the field, and definitely doesn't deserve the 18 jersey.

Ok, it seems like we go through this every year, but here is the rule and the reason why an O-lineman will never wear #18.
Rule 7, Section 1, Article 4-a-3
At least five linemen must wear jerseys numbered 50-79.
The penalty would be illegal formation, 5yds from the previous spot. For arguments sake, Collins could feasibly wear 18 IF there were five other linemen wearing 50-79 EVERY PLAY.
Lineman will just have to start their own number tradition. Maybe in a few yrs we can debate who should wear #70 (Ciron Black and Collins) have done well wearing it!

The point is that LSU needs to have someone on the field at all times wearing #18. Is that so difficult to understand? You never know when a wandering eye of the tiger might cause LSU to lose focus. The most efficient way to handle this is to have #18 Magee on offense, #18 Welter on defense, #18 someone on the kick return team (if Magee isn't the return man), #18 someone on the kick coverage units. And if that doesn't work we need to make sure that, you know, there's a guy with #3 and a guy with #15 on the field or maybe #12 and #6. Even guys with a #1 and a #8 or just plain old #81 would work. Something that says LSU has the #18 covered. At all times.
