It's funny that this morbidly obese POS is concerned about anything from a "for health reasons " perspective.

For health reasons, for moral reasons, for religious reasons, Glover said he vowed at that moment to use one of his five allotted bills in a legislative session that’s supposed to focus on fiscal matters
So the people of Shreveport elected him to represent their best interests by focusing on fiscal matters in the legislature 5 times per session, and he's using 20% of his allotted bills for an immature publicity stunt that he knows damn well would NEVER be passed in Louisiana. And Glover is somehow twisting him screwing his voter base over into him taking the moral high ground.
A true career politician right there, folks.

I'm betting Southern or Grambling.

So this cat didn't even graduate from college?

He was one of the worst Mayors Shreveport has ever seen. He started the downward spiral here, how he keeps getting elected to a public office is mind boggling.

As a "Jesus freak" this isn't true. In this case, this guy is just using religion as an excuse to get his way.

I wonder what these are.

I assume he never graduated.

A Democrat that believes in interjecting religion in politics. Interesting.

I love beer as much as the next guy, and the moral argument doesn't sway my opinion one bit. But it does stand to reason that someone should question LSU's conflict of interest here. One one hand, LSU wants to establish its brand as a top-tier institute of higher learning. It also has a well-documented problem of half of its freshman class partying itself out of school.
LSU runs an omnipresent (and seemingly futile) campaign to warn its students of the ill-effects of alcohol abuse. Putting LSU's brand on a can of cheap beer doesn't advance any cause of the university, aside from the slight increase in revenue. And what does that say about Louisiana? We're willing to fund higher learning as long as we get shitty beer in exchange? Are we willing to sell out our raison d'etre in exchange for marginally lower taxes and overpriced beer?
Enjoy your purple & gold branded beer, Louisiana, because with leadership like Louisiana's, you're going to need a drink.

Our founding fathers said it best. Separation of church and state.

Request at least one link stating that beer sales are the cause here. That or gtfo

Ridiculous. I don't drink, and dislike alcohol. But it's a legal product that carries with it no intrinsic immorality.
If it was so immoral, it would be banned outright. But it isn't, because Glover and pals don't have the political balls to do it. Instead, we get little potshots taken at it that are utterly meaningless, and would do damage to the University's bottom line. If you want to break ties between universities and alcohol, don't hide behind bullshite like "health, moral, and religious" reasons.
We know the reason why he wants to do it. It's the reason why every politician wants to do anything: cash. Follow the money on his donors, and you will likely find the real reason behind the bill. Either that, or he wants leverage to force someone to do something, in exchange for dropping his bill. Politicians don't take "moral" stances for free. They have no morals to begin with.

The only thing that sticks deep in my heart is that Ragin' Cajun is so much better than Bayou Bengal.

No, beer sales aren't the cause, but it doesn't take an advanced degree to understand that LSU is putting itself in a situation of conflicting interests.
Sell more beer and increase value of branding agreement vs. Discourage underage drinking and produce responsible students who go to class and survive their freshman year.

I wonder what his constituents would think of him taking this moral stance while receiving donations from AB or Miller-Coors, or the distribution arms of those companies?
