You get the downvote. It's not about the quality of the picture but what the picture represents.

From LIFE mag 1959
Mike on field before the Pajama game for freshmen in 1959, Rice vs LSU. Notice the student section was located beginning on about the 15 yard line of North West stadium. 1959 was my first semester, Junior year. I barely remember my pajama game for an obvious reason(other than being old). Wish I would have saved my LSU beanie cap from that era. What a treasure that would be.

Not really. Making an animal parade around for drunk people is actually sad.

Actually has nothing to do with libs. Anyone saying otherwise is ignorant.

Bring it back, forget tbe naysayers.

Of the few games a year I got to attend, I made sure I was in the seats when they brought Mike out.

Unrelated, but why can’t people learn to crop out the battery level of their phone, cellular signal, etc on a picture?

It’s not peta
It’s not libs
The current Mike’s trainer said that he reacts very poorly to that particular situation, so they stopped doing it for the animal’s well being.
I’m sure some of you complaining about this are pet owners. The vet staff probably feel the same way about Mike that you do about your animals. They aren’t going to subject their pet to something they believe to be detrimental to his health.

I loved the tradition….absolutely loved it.
While at LSU 84-88 had roommate that was in Pre-vet (now a vet) that was in the circle of the vet school folks that cared for Mike.
Learned through my roommate of the problems associated with the cage ride and how Mike was absolutely terrified of the stadium experience. Drug the Tiger, force him into cage, stitch up his face after he slammed it into cage trying to get at fake Mike, etc.
No problem with discontinuing the tradition. It was cruel to Mike. Not PETA, not liberal, just Pro-Mike.

Right. Dr. Baker moved on recently, but he was as conservative as one can get. He just cared for Mike as he was payed to do.
Unless you equate conservatism with lacking compassion for animals, it’s not a conservative/liberal issue.

Just chill in his pad. We could spend whatever to make this work go all in
I think w todays tech they could at least put a camera inside his actual cage and live stream it to the video boards.
A live shot of him pacing w some music would still be bad arse.

While I agree with this statement 100% I blame LSU for this. They could’ve told peta to frick off and brought the Tiger in the stadium anyway, sadly they chose not to

As of this post - 32 downvotes. I hate each one of those frickers.
What a time it was when Mike was brought in! A legacy killed by those too soft to enjoy it.

I support not subjecting Mike to drunk fans and parading him around the stadium...But...parking Mike's Cage outside the opponents locker room was a great tradition.

Get your DV’s ready.
For anyone who had tickets past row H, you couldn’t see Mike. Just cheerleaders on top of a giant box. The conversation around us in South Upper 21 always went something like this:
“Where is he?”
“In the cage.”
“Oh! Anyway…”
It wasn’t that impressive. Ralphie the Buffalo, auburn’s eagle—those are cool because you can see what the hell is happening. The tiny cage hid too much of Mike, which made hauling it around look silly IMO. Him roaring was fun.
