Nah stopgap.

He’s 100% LSU
He’s respected by the team.
He can sit there and pitch LSU to Walker Howard not as a coach but as a former LSU QB.

likewise agree that firing a coach this soon after the NC would deter the pool of candidates for filling the job to a "high risk" group

Are some of you guys just really dense or what?

Let’s look at the LSU job objectively:
1.Our last 3 coaches ALL won a National Title
2.Last time I looked LSU is still in the SEC. The strongest, richest, most stable, most visible, most competitive conference in the country
3. Louisiana is one of the most talent rich states in the country. A 4 hour radius of BR has a talent pool that only a handful of programs can match.
4. LSU has an excellent brand name regardless how many here may not think so.
5. Our football facilities are top ten in the country.
6.LSU has the money to pay a very large salary not only to the head coach, but the staff that any coach hired, brings in.
7. Our AD has a recent history of bringing in huge names with successful pedigrees in all his head coaching hires.

So..... take the BS that LSU won’t be able to attract the highest level coaching candidates and shove it if O is fired.

It’s an argument of desperation from the CheeriOs. Really not worth arguing with them, you already saw the late night kick with Pate that agents are waiting on LSU to open as it’s more desirable than USC.

That’s all I need to know relative to the “no coaches will be interested because we didn’t give O long enough” to fix.

This is not about whether O deserves to stay or go. It is about reality of what goes on in the world of businesses.

I have been watching LSU football for over 40 yrs and I am still waiting on that "highest level coaching candidate."

Unpopular opinion #2: Ed will coach and finish next season as well.
Just as the 2020 pandemic season gave players a “free” or extra year, it will to Ed as well.

Awake when Brodhead and Emmert were the search? Some high level candidates named Arnsparger and Saban were hired. Maybe not the “highest” but still both were well respected in coaching circles.

Even Bama has to settle for DuBose, Fran, Shula and was set to hire Rich Rod before late decline then Saban fell in lap. Not as easy as you think. Ohio State post Urban promoting within with Day wasn’t a highest level hire.

It's hard news and I downvoted but I believe you're right. Unless he shows cause, he'll be with us this year and probably the next.

Unpopular?

Ed isn’t getting fired during the season, and anyone who thinks otherwise were Ed O haters from 2017.

The loudest seem like the majority.

O isn't getting fired midseason unless he loses the team and they implode. And by that, I mean they go on a 5+ game losing streak including out of conference teams.

Despite what people imagine, he didn't lose the team last year. They still fought throughout the end of the year and kept winning games none of us thought they would.

1. Title IX- you can forget this as a justification for cause termination. If the evidence was there, our woke president would have already fired him.

uh, the evidence is there. Add to that him being all over the internet slutting it up. He shows a callous disregard of his status as role model, and setting a proper Title IX tone

So, you can fire him for cause. Then the lawsuit will decide if you were within your legal grounds or not. By then it wont matter if you win or lose, youve already amputated the gangrenous foot

So Ed's lawyers will tell him to take the drastically reduced buyout, or be the next Les Miles: untouchable in the coaching/ recruiting/ broadcasting profession

You’re right, none of us thought after the natty we’d beat Vandy, SCAR, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. Unbelievable job by O.

I want O fired you douche. But, I'm pretty sure most of us thought we were gonna be a 3 win team after losing to MSU and Mizzou. Stop being dense.

instead of doing things that could affect games - send the band on road trips, for example

Well this is a new first, and all time low on the excuses list. Now, somehow the band not making a road trip is an excuse of why the football team didn't win.

WOW!!!!

Lol. We went 5-5. Is that a bragging point now?

in not bragging. I'm saying the team never quit on O and kept fighting to win. Generally speaking, coaches don't get fired midseason in this scenario. O would still need to be fired in another 5 or 6 win season. I just don't see it happening midseason if the team doesn't quit on him.

The recurring top 3 have been Covid, Ida, and Woody hired Pelini. Have to admit the lack of band I could never have thought; that’s one clever O pumper.
