Those concerts in tiger stadium were a great way to inject capital into the program
This is why I wish LSU would do a better job with the arena project. There is potential to generate revenue in non LSU events.

It's incredibly foolish to do this if it ends up being true.
Correct

What if LSU is the "private equity" firm and is using athletic funds to buy pieces of other businesses to collect revenue. Does that change your opinion?
I only ask because the OP is generally vague. This would be a unique position for a PE firm to take. LSU athletics is a profitable business. I could see a firm injecting money in to take a piece of that pie. The question is what type of influence and how much did they buy?
ETA: Everyone wants to win championships, but without money in this NIL era you are destined to be behind.

This thing is also the one posting about it. So it won’t be discussed in a positive light.

LSU would be getting robbed blind.

The money this injects would be a bandaid here. Over time, we would keep having to make decisions that increase revenue at the expense of winning. Look at Utah for an example.
They got $500MM in cash from private equity and immediately started cutting staff. There is no bridge too far for private equity to increase profits even if it sells the soul of what makes LSU great to begin with.

I believe RedEye is JR Ball.
JR is very knowledgeable about Baton Rouge sports and LSU sports.

Tbf Private equity’s customers are their limited partners. That’s who they work for.

I bitch often about this, but I wonder if LSU has any type of master plan for its facilities. Donations that would be going into updates and new construction are now likely going into players. Gone are the days of new updates every five years, but maybe shifting focus on something sustainable for 15-20 years. If LSU gets some type of cash injection, where will it go and how long do they foresee it lasting.

ETA: Private equity into LSU probably won't operate like your company being bought and sliced up for profit. Idk though
Alright, let me just ask you a quick question and then we can get back to regular scheduled programming. How do you think the PE is going to operate? Because PE isn't going to take a loss financially. So there is going to have to be some ROI (Return on Investment).
Now it could help on generating Revenue for the athletic department and media right deals and maybe generate more favorable sponsorships to generate a good cash flow but don't be fooled they will always be concentrated with their main focus: "How do we generate a Return on the Capital?"
I'm not trying to be an arse but its ignorant to think the PE won't turn this whole thing to shite.

This definitely seems like something JL would do and try to frame as a good thing for LSU.
Also a great way to alienate your top coaches who want autonomy.

Raising Canes Field at Thoma Bravo Stadium.
Sarcasm.

I’d rather suck at sports, unless this is just a sponsorship and they aren’t a controlling entity of any type.

At least they can’t make concessions worse
