Yup can’t even bring it upon yourself to list actual pieces of the LSU system

-Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (main campus in Baton Rouge; opened in 1860)
-Louisiana State University Agricultural Center - Baton Rouge (established 1972)
-Louisiana State University of Alexandria (opened 1960)
-Louisiana State University at Eunice (opened 1967)
-Louisiana State University Shreveport (opened 1967)
-LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans (established in 1931)
-LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport (classes began 1969)
-Paul M. Hebert Law Center - Baton Rouge (became separate institution in 1977)
-Pennington Biomedical Research Center - Baton Rouge

Now, count the 4 year universities on this list. And then, explain to me how this system get 2/3 of the funding over a system with 9 universities. Is it really that difficult to see?

What kind of shape is LSU in? They are ranked about equal to their peer institutions in Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas
They are elite at a couple things, good at a lot, and bad at others

You say they should cut out programs
Their US news ranking that you like to reference would really be horrible if they did that

So because LSU is the flagship, you get 2/3 of funding while NINE 4-year universities get 1/3......

You don't see the problem here? Seriously?

Yep. While making business sense, those programs that everyone wants cut are part of what makes a university a university.

When you show me a similar situation in a different state where the funding is vastly different then you can bitch. Until then, you have no basis.

Shape, as in you're financially in the red right now

Cutting funding for the 10 students majoring in Philosophy and putting it into Engineering or Business will benefit you, not hurt you. Hell, consolidating those kinds of programs would benefit. We did the same in Lafayette around 10 years ago, and it helped.

And I'll tell you this as well: I sincerely do not think an undergrad will receive a significantly better education at lsu than they will at ul....or even ltu. And if they're attending a true 'flagship' school, they should.

Well that depends highly on the program to be honest, and it's your opinion.

There are a number of programs that LSU has that are better than others in state. And I'm not sure what the median earning of a ULL or La Tech grad is, but I do know the earnings of an LSU grad is well above average of its SEC peers save A&M and Auburn I believe. So yes, in the most important metric I think there is, LSU grads are (generally speaking) better off than ULL and La Tech grads.

Pretty sure Tech grads have the best "return of investment" for all the state schools once entering the work forces.

I'm all for keeping LA Tech around if the school closures ever happen.

Ok let’s do it !!

LSU- Main Campus
LSUA, LSUE, LSUS- Two-year programs with no Master, or Doctoral degrees

(LSU-New Orleans, LSU-Shreveport)- med schools. That is apart of LSU, and connected towards the main campus that is there med schools

Paul M. Hebert Law Center- Law School still part of LSU main campus, it is LSU law school.

Pennington Biomedical Research Center- ok Research University for LSU

So 4 are directly connected to LSU

The rest are JUCO’s

Also, I keep seeing a comparison between LSU System and UL System with no mention of the Southern System. How much of the pie do they get from the state?

LSUA and LSUS are 4 year schools. LSUA probably shouldn't be, but it is.

Yes I do see the problem....the problem is that there are 9 4 year universities in the UL system when there should probably only be 2-3.

Now once that problem is solved we can give LSU 3/4 of the funding and 1/4 to the 2-3 little guys.

When you can make the argument that anywhere between 50 and 75% of the schools in the system shouldn't exist, any amount that system gets is too much.

Because it is the flagship institution and does a far better job of turning out successful graduates.

Those 9 need to be cut down to about 6. Then ULL will get more money and yall can stop bitching.
