Still the greatest sports nickname of all time. He literally is the human version of a honey badger.

This. Lots of guys have the physical tools but lack the instincts. Others have the instincts but lack the physical tools. TM is that rare combo of both.

He was truly amazing at LSU. I've never seen a player with a better nose for the ball.

Tyrann Mathieu was the greatest college football player I have ever seen.
We will never know but LSU may have won another national title if Les did not sit the Honey Badger his last season
By doing so he possibly saved Tyrann's career letting him thrive in the NFL

That play against A&M where he picks the Tight End’s pocket and then houses it is one of my favorite football highlights of all time. The honey badger was so special because with him on the field, you knew something amazing could happen at any moment

Love Tyrann, but Burrow is the greatest college player of all time sand not just at LSU.

He was must-see-tv. The strip fumbles were great but whichever coach inserted him as punt returner is a genius

Reggie Bush was equally as entertaining in college.
And Marshal Faulk, but those were running backs with way more opportunities.

Old people love to throw out a Casanova or Cannon. TM was the most fun to watch in my lifetime. Burrow and Cecil Collins too.

The 2 college players I’ll remember seeing play live that just were different (in a freak kinda way) are Honey Badger and Adrian Peterson.

Honorable mention for Patrick Peterson and JaMarcus Russell.

Second coming of Tommy Casanova...

no....at safety. Mathieu did not return all the punts, but he was good at it.

I don’t think a lot of people realize just how great this dude was. You had to witness to appreciate what he was as a player. I’ve never seen a player turn the tide of so many games by himself like Mathieu. Offenses legit HAD to know where he was on every single play because he was a game changing play waiting to happen.

As an "old folk", I saw Cassanova become a 3....THREE...time All American who played both ways & also returned punts & kick offs. In one of the best games in LSU history he returned either punts or kickoffs 3....THREE times in the game. Jerry Stovall was a 2....TWO... time All American, played both ways, returned kicks / punts & was runner up in the Heisman Award. Love the HB but his getting himself kicked off the team , after multiple warnings, directly cost LSU the bama game that year. His replacement, a freshman, got faked out of a TD-saving tackle on that screen pass in the last minutes. A game LSU dominated up until that last bama game winning drive. Burrow is in the running, too.

Idk about Greatest football player
but I have never seen a more impactful season by a defender than 2011.
He was a game changer, he was unavoidable.
Greatest player may be Joe though. Not best career, but idk what more you could want from a QB than Joe in 2019.

I think he has the claim to best football player ever at LSU because of one reason, he made plays that mattered. Whenever we needed a play, he was there to do it nearly every time
Best DB I’ve ever seen at getting the ball back. Just had the it factor X 100
Literally from his very first game he was flashing as a special player. I vividly remember watching the North Carolina game and saying to friend "Who in the hell is #14? He's everywhere!"

I remember watching Tommy Casanova and thinking that he was good as it gets.
Then I saw Mathieu. He was magical. He is the GOAT.
