That throw from short Center Field needs to be looked at, and if Mr Stanfield can’t make it, it’s time to move him.

Stanfield has been solid at the plate and great in CF. I am surprised that he’s been immune from the platoon, though. Is he THAT valuable on defense? (honest question)
Too many outfielders is better than not enough.

I agree. If he was hitting more HR, it would make sense, but I don’t think he’s so good defensively that you keep Brown or Frey out of the lineup for him. At least right now while their numbers are insanely high.

Frey has had success pinching hitting, but to me that’s not an ideal situation to continue to go to each game. A guy coming in late in the game, cold off the bench, is not a good plan. When Brown was subbed in this weekend I felt like he was pressing at the plate. I’d like to see them just find a lineup and stick with it.

I think Curriel has the speed to where you wouldn't see that much of a drop off.. stanfield is a liability with the bat... period... you need hitters.. pearson should be hitting.

In SEC play, Stanfield is:
- tied for 4th highest BA
- 3rd in OB%
- 5th in slugging %
..among the guys who have played in 3+ SEC games.

…from the 9 hole.

If he’s a liability with the bat, that doesn’t say a lot about the guys ahead of him in the order.

I will let Jay know. With your guidance he might finally make it to Omaha and with luck finally win a national championship.

John Pearson is not ready to play.

Reeves is poor defensively and it make sense to remove him in L vs L matchups.

Having RH hitting options is one of the knocks on this team. It’s way too LH heavy. Conversely, there are not enough LHP on the team.

My point is, Stanfield has been fine. Maybe you insert Curiel into CF vs a RHP and get a guy like Larson some ABs here and there. But you need Stanfield’s RH bat for balance and his defense has been pretty good.

This just isn’t true. He battles at the plate, has hit for average and has come through in some big spots. You could make an argument that he doesn’t provide power but he’s 9th hole and plays the role well.

The hole in the lineup is Braswell. Cant have a corner infielder bunting and slapping singles and batting sub 250 and expect to be top tier.

Jones to third. I liked. Brown to first he is scary in of. Larson to right. Kid can help with his bat once he gets it figured out .

Reaves’ “poor defense” is over exaggerated.

His .371 BA shouldn’t be pulled out of the lineup for a .200 BA in Braswell all because of L vs L matchups.

Stanfield is an elite CF and covers an insane amount of ground. I'd leave him in the lineup if he was batting .290 and he's at .320. He stays.

We don't trust John to cover the ground b/t the 3B line and Milam. Jay certainly isn't going to let him cover a 1/3 of the outfield. As for Josh, he's 3 for 18 in SEC play and kicked a ball in RF Saturday. Over the weekend, Josh had several at-bats with runners in scoring position and didn't get a hit in any of them (he did have a sac fly on Friday I think). Far from clutch. I like Josh, and Jay is going to find ways to keep him in the lineup, but he has to play better than he does in SEC play b/c there is a pattern here.

Josh Pearson's SEC batting average over his career is .240 and each year isn't getting better.
2022 .258
2023 .246
2024 .235
2025 .167

Look above and think about the fact that you want to bench Stanfield who is batting .311 this year and .281 for his career in SEC.
