Badger don’t lie. Kids are too soft and just want the easier path vs working your tail off regardless of outcome.

Hate what college football has turned into. Definitely has caused me to lose interest in the sport - too businesslike

Can’t blame the players for taking advantage of the system, though

This is true, I must admit.

But it sure takes the excitement out of national signing day.

I’d like to see the transfer portal open up just for limited period each year, maybe once in January for 3 weeks, and once more in May for 3 weeks (after spring practices end).

The portal is just another option for universities to build their teams. No longer can teams hoard good players they don't intend to use just to keep them from other teams. If you are a good player, you can find a place that will use your skills.

true, but a lot of those players you mentioned went to LSU bc it was a better and bigger opportunity for them. A good analogy would be some just pout and quit a job, others go and get a better one.

What does that have to do with anything? He couldn’t have played for Ohio state as a graduate student? He wanted to play and he wasn’t going to get it there. Our gain, their loss.

Call me a cynic but I don’t believe the transfers in most cases these days have anything to do with playing time. It’s about money. You get one big bag of money when you sign with a school out of high school and another big bag of money when you transfer. Two big bags of money are better than one big bag of money. For some of these players, it will be the only big payoff they get.

You could argue that it’s not really the kind of life lesson we want to be teaching guys either. Instant gratification is a huge problem in society.

Joey B did not come through the Transfer Portal. He came the somewhat more traditional way of Grad Transfer. There was no portal when he came. If not a GT he would have had to sit a year for eligibility.

Oh, ok. So it's fine to quit on your team if they were the only ones that were there for you before you blew up and rely on you to be a star and a leader? I would have thought that would make quitting on them worse. The more you know.

Football, men's and women's basketball, baseball -
All of our teams have benefited from the transfer portal, so I am not going to complain about it.

The Honey Badger was not that highly recruited coming out of St. Aug. Frank Wilson discovered him.

Kids transferring as grad students nobody has a problem with. If you do well in school and graduate early, that should be rewarded. But how kids can just transfer now for any reason at all is stupid and ruining CFB.

College football fans need some rules on what is quitting versus what is acceptable.

Quitting
QB/Ks: Entering the portal before you have been on campus for two seasons
ALL OTHER POSITIONS: Entering the portal before the Spring Ball after two seasons on campus
EXCEPTION: Underrecruited player who balls out and moves up the food chain, someone who returns to home state, or due to family / health related issue.

GROUPIE BEHAVIOR
A starter who transfers to a rival
EXCEPTION: A player who returns to his home state after proving himself elsewhere, even if the transfer is to a Rival

ACCEPTABLE ("NEW NORMAL"):
* QB/K: Transfer after two full seasons (if a starter, to a non-Rival unless going home)
* ALL OTHER POSITIONS: Transfer after the Spring following their second season (if a starter, to a non-Rival unless going home)
* Freshman who transfer up

NO QUESTIONS AT ALL:
* Transfers after three seasons (if a starter to a non-Rival unless going home)

In LSU terms:
Joe Burrow - No Questions
Kardell Thomas - No Questions
Michael Daugherty - Quitter
Walker Howard - Quitter (and Groupie-ish but he wasn't a starter)
DeMario Tolan - Kind of a Groupie Quitter but sorta going home and not a starter
Duce Chestnut - Acceptable
Marcus Dumervil - No Questions
Derrick Davis - Acceptable (didn't see in the Spring but went home and wasn't a starter)
Aaron Anderson - Not a quitter or groupie because of home state
Kole Taylor - Acceptable (after 3 years)
Raydar Jones - No Question even thought to a rival because home state
Jack Bech - Quitter because didn't try this Spring (this is the hardest one imho)
Jalen Lee - Not a groupie because home state
Eli Ricks - Quitter (left before 2nd season ended) and Groupie (from Cali)
Banks / Converse / Garner - No Questions
Greg Brooks / Joe Foucha - No Question even though rival because went home
Major Burns - Acceptable because going home
