re: Tre Morgan’s play (video) will be remembered for a long time!

Stated in the gif thread but the level of execution on WF end just makes this more impressive than it already was.
Hell of a slide. Jay just had em coached up & Morgan is an animal out there.
Wake Forest was perfect. Tre Morgan was just a little bit better than that.
quote:
Nobody is forcing them to do anything.
That is true. However, people opposed to the transfer portal are certainly TRYING to force them to do something; they are trying to force them to either stay at their current school or sit out a year. Did you not know that?
quote:
They don’t get to play wherever they want anyway outside the top guys
That's totally irrelevant. No one has ever suggested all teams should be required to accept all players.
quote:
and like life, rules are always needed to ensure fair play and competition
Rules are also needed to ensure assholes like you don't just REEEEEEEE so much that college kids can't play sports where they want to.
quote:
.. my feelings don’t play into this but obviously you are an emotional twat who prefers emotional anarchy as a decision process
And yet the most common against the transfer portal anyone ever makes is that it makes the sport less fun to watch, which is a purely emotional argument. Since your argument isn't an emotional one what is your argument? That it's just generally good when college kids are forced into staying at a school where they don't want to be anymore?
quote:
Lol wtf are you talking about? I haven’t stated a position at all, outside of pointing out a logical fallacy that would preclude you from benefiting from rules you are opposed to.
I’m not the stupid one pal.
Oh, so you are in favor of the transfer portal? Or are you against it like I assumed?
quote:
We have rules and laws for reasons. You don’t get to always just do what you want. Because Nobody is forcing anyone to play college athletics
They are college kids and you think they should be forced to perform for your entertainment. They shouldn't get to go to school where they want to and play sports where they want to. Should their freedoms should be restricted so you can watch them play ball the way you want? Of course not.
quote:
I don’t think I cleared anything up for you.
That's true; I already knew your position was stupid and evil.
quote:
Benefiting from a system you don’t agree with does not preclude you from disagreeing fundamentally with the system
Oh, so you're just of the belief that college kids should be forced to exist in the way we find most entertaining rather than getting to live their own lives and make their own decisions? See, I thought it was sour grapes that made people not like the portal, not just being assholes. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
quote:
true, but a lot of those players you mentioned went to LSU bc it was a better and bigger opportunity for them. A good analogy would be some just pout and quit a job, others go and get a better one.
Oh, ok. So it's fine to quit on your team if they were the only ones that were there for you before you blew up and rely on you to be a star and a leader? I would have thought that would make quitting on them worse. The more you know.

For anyone that is a fan of LSU to knock the transfer portal is ridiculous. Jayden Daniels led LSU to the SEC Championship Game and a win over Alabama. Angel Reese led LSU to a National Championship. Paul Skenes is the best pitcher on the #1 team in the country. We have probably benefited more than any other fanbase in the country.

That is fricking insane.
Easy solution: Don't click on a thread about it. Those of us that enjoy WBB wont mind not hearing your thoughts on how much of a sport it is, and you can focus on the sports you do enjoy.

Are any Notre Dame commitments in play?
Posted by kylesch87 on 7/6/22 at 12:42 pm
I have been super out of the loop on recruiting the past few months, but when I checked today I saw that Notre Dame is currently ranked #1 on 24/7's 2023 and 2024 team recruit rankings. Are any of their current commits LSU targets?
Sorry if Germans, like I said I've been super out of the loop lately.

This dude really didn't even play for the tigers though. I could compare him to a Ben Simmons possibly
I think that's a great comparison in that both of them did 1000 times more for LSU than you ever will.

Garrison Hearst, Trent Richardson, Nick Chubb, Errict Rhett, Najee Harris, and Shaun Alexander not in same category as the others. All very good, but not special to me.
Here is the full list of SEC running backs with more career yards and a higher yards per carry than Nick Chubb:

That's about a thousand times more than you'll ever do for LSU in your lifetime.

The AFC pro-bowl starter at QB is white you fricking dumbass.

They spent the vast majority of their time in the league playing on some very bad teams in Cincinnati and Buffalo.
Cincinnati went to the playoffs 6 times in Whitworth's 11 seasons there. How does that equate to the vast majority of his time being on very bad teams?

Their situations were different they were Juniors and Seniors that weren't going to start. I think he is more talking about Freshmen and Starters transfering for no apparent reason. How often does the "I'm going to do the best for me" bs actually end up being better for them. The grass isn't always greener.
So it's OK to transfer if you want to, but not if you want to. Cool.
I looked at the last six NFL drafts to see which positions the NFL values most highly; it wont necessarily be a 1:1 correlation with college football value but it gives a picture of what the teams with the most resources committed are thinking.
In four of the six drafts the first defensive player taken was a defensive end. The other two years it was a cornerback. The top five picks over all six years had 12 defensive players taken; 7 of the 12 were defensive ends, 3 cornerbacks, 1 defensive tackle, and 1 inside linebacker. The earliest a safety was taken was 6th, and the earliest an outside linebacker was taken was 7th.
The first player at each position taken in each draft breaks down as follows:
DE - 3, 1, 5, 2, 2, 21
DT - 13, 35, 12, 3, 7, 38
ILB - 41, 21, 16, 10, 8, 16
OLB - 9, 13, 19, 7, 27, 12
CB - 5, 11, 4, 30, 3, 8
S - 14, 6, 11, 21, 36, 36
To me it seems pretty clear that the top two in order in terms of the NFL are DE then CB. Then there is a big gap, and the other four positions are fairly close in NFL valuation. The order looks like it would be DT, ILB, OLB, S, but it's so close that I wouldn't feel very confident making that statement definitively.

Like as an offensive coordinator? Sure. As a head coach? frick no.
re: Is there any coaching candidate out there better than Urban?

Urban Meyer is a great hire if you know someone else you want to hire four years later.
