Maineiri's issue is with how drawn out the process is, not that the players change their minds. Also, why are people acting like this is new or that no other coaches do this?

can you cite other coaches that have dumped 2 year starters going into their last season?

Mainieri's issue with the draft is that he doesn't know his role and shut his mouth. In the past he has given kids ultimatums and deadlines before the signing deadline, pulled the offers of younger siblings, and persuaded players to go with different agents to spite a guy that represented a HS player that signed. His ego is too big for him to realize that the MLB doesn't give a shite about him. And he whines way too damn much about everything.

The team needs to get better, but this is one of the most pathetic things Ive ever seen. So Mainieri thought he was good enough to start the last 2 years and he then cuts him going into his senior year. Now he has to scramble to find a school to attend at the last second. Bitch move by Mainieri.

He seemed awfully upset with Von Rosenberg, Colvin, and Cecchni for taking less than what they told him and not just upset with the NCAA/MLB process.

Paul Mainieri's job is to win games for LSU, not to GAF about MLB or any kid who holds LSU hostage to get a bigger contract from MLB.

Why shouldn't he get upset if a kid lies to him?

If you honestly think that every committed kid that signed pro ball was 'holding LSU hostage', then you're pretty dense. And it's undeniable that Mainieri has a poor track record when it comes to dealing with guys who sign.

I think the bigger issue here is that Javi still has a job. I think a good hitting coach could do wonders for Watkins. I would have done some things differently, but I'm not offended by the process.

Watkins isn't transferring anywhere. He's going to be playing minor league ball next year. And I doubt this came as a surprise to Watkins.

As long as he's looking out for LSU, I'm OK with it. It's a business, kids and their parents treat it that way and so should Mainieri and LSU. I care about LSU, PERIOD. If you don't like that, so be it. Just my opinion.

Like pitching a hissy fit in a press conference after Colvin and Von Rosenburg sign. Like publicly bitching about the process after Zach Lee signs. Like pulling the younger Cechinni's offer because the older one signed.
He's done some other shitty stuff that I won't go into detail about relating to the draft, but there are some of the examples.

You have no idea what those kids told him. Or who he came off of because of what they told him. Both left LSU holding the bag. F them.

Absolutely true. For all the good he does by getting rid of Grewe he does this crap.
So you are a young player signed with LSU,, you have to wonder if this might happen to you also.. that scholly you get your first year might disappear by your Jr year- when you can't transfer anywhere (other than NAIA). Does that make Mainari a "liar" also?
Or, god forbid you get drafted-- Its none of PM's business how much money you will take to sign.. I promise, the way the coaches handled Cecchini & Colvin during the summer leading up to the deadline had ALOT to do with their decision. Yes they got the $$ they wanted, but there was no nothing left to pull them to LSU.

Exactly, if we keep him, don't sign that kid to play outfield because we can't offer a schollie (partial, & he goes elsewhere), who do we then bitch at when he gets drafted & takes the money? [Being as he's from JC, I doubt he's on the academic honor role].
