Why is it a mistake? He’s proven pretty much everything he can at the college level.
He's not getting drafted, if you follow what scouts are saying. So, why leave? I'm not dogging him, it's his life. It's just difficult to see the upside in this decision.
His play would make you think he's proven everything he needs to, but the NBA is not thrilled with his size, clearly.

No Tremont. Don’t do this to Uncle Pimp.

Lol he better hope he gets drafted

He’ll probly be drafted, Tyler Ulis was drafted and is nowhere near the talent Waters is. The problem with small guards like Waters is sticking around. Most get a look early on but are constantly waived and don’t last. The ones that do are almost always 4 year guys like Shabazz Napier. Most likely completing the 4 years has guys ready for anything they’ll see at the next level and gives clubs a more complete sample size of play, leadership, development and work habits they can rely on. In short they know exactly what they’re getting and don’t have to waste time developing these players which allows them to stick around. I’m pulling for Tre but the odds are stacked against him.

He'll be a good to great backup guard in about two years. Dude has fricking moxie, and that can't be taught.

He could have bulked up a little more and dedicated his game to improving his 3 point shooting. Better 3pt % could have helped his stock.

One of my favorite LSU players. He will be missed.

One of the best PGs to ever wear the purple and gold. Tiger Nation will always love you. Thank you Tremont!!!

Some of y'all are some miserable pricks...how about instead of cutting the guy down, show some support.

No nba future at that height
He can shoot with 6'10 dudes in his face, blow past skilled defenders, steal the ball in the blink of a eye, take just about anyone to the hoop regardless of size and shoot from the parking lot, so I don't think his height will truly stop him.

Current Noteable NBA players:
5’9: Isaiah Thomas
5’11: Frank Mason III
6’0:
Fred VanVleet
Yogi Ferrell
Isaiah Canaan
D.J. Augustin
Ish Smith
Patty Mills
Darren Collison
Kyle Lowry
Chris Paul
J.J. Barea
I think Tremont will be perfectly fine. He might not be an allstar right off the bat but he’s gonna be a fun player to watch. I’ll definitely keep up with his career. He’s slippery, can shake even the best defenders, can finish in the paint, hit threes, get steals, etc. he definitely has the potential to be great.
Whoever gets him is going to have a steal in the draft

What scouts? Actual scouts being paid by NBA teams are not writing Bleacher Report articles. They're busy working and sharing their information with only their employers.

Good luck to Tremont. It was fun watching him light it up for the Tigers, now go make that money
