He was talking to true tiger fans who appreciate the talent and artistry of Tremont Waters.

This young man is following his dream and making something with his career. My question is why put a man down for wanting to live his dream? If you think it's lame then you don't have any dreams or goals in your life.

If we don’t get wade back it will be a long year next year
Who has he signed, or on the will sign radar that leads you to believe that if he stays it won't be a long year next year? I am asking because I don't follow recruiting. I know last year created a lot of buzz because he was getting big names it seemed left and right.

Next year you should still have
Smart
Mays
Taylor
Days
Williams
Hyatt first guard off the bench
Cooper I guess is your first big
We need to find a couple big bodies for sure. I think it’s still a quality team but a small step back from this year.

After watching him rise to the occasion against good competition I say Waters is ready. He was nothing short of dominant and the best player on the floor in each of our 3 ncaa tourney games. Good luck Tre!

His play would make you think he's proven everything he needs to, but the NBA is not thrilled with his size, clearly.
Well I doubt staying for another year will make him grow 5 inches. So why stay?

Probably the best all around PG LSU has had since Chris Jackson (even though you could argue Jackson was more of a SG). Just a tremendous player and a lot of fun to watch. I don't think people truly realize just how valuable a player he has been. Waters set up a LOT of scoring on his own (either for his teammates or himself). LSU was rarely stagnant on offense simply because he could create a good shot for himself if nothing else worked. Also, Wade never really had to worry about late game situations and late shot clock situations because Waters could simply just get a good shot up without having to worry about a play call. You could argue he almost single-handedly accelerated LSU's rebuilding process. Last year's team wouldn't have even sniffed the NIT without him. That success helped build the foundation for this year's group.
(Assuming the Wade stuff gets worked out) LSU could still be a potent offense next year, but they will have to go about it a different way. Smart is a big time scorer, but he is definitely a score-first guard and not one that is particularly great as setting up other players. That doesn't make him a bad player by any means, just different from Waters. I suspect LSU's offense will be less efficient without Waters. The flip side is that I think Smart can be a better overall defender simply because of his size, length and big time competitiveness.
Selfishly I would have LOVED to see Waters come back for 1-2 more years, but I completely understand his decision to leave. His biggest "negative", lack of size, can't be improved upon by returning to school. He's going to get into the NBA system (likely G-league) and try to show he belongs. Best of luck to him.

Well, since he is already a pro, it’s not such a big leap for him.

He could have bulked up a little more and dedicated his game to improving his 3 point shooting. Better 3pt % could have helped his stock.
Better 3 point shooting could have helped his stock, but I think his shooting is as much a function of the shots he takes as anything. I would bet he'll shoot a better percentage in the league because the shot selection will improve

Thanks for the memories. Fun times for a while. I still feel, and apparently the pro scouts do also, that you still haven't put it all together and can be an even more spectacular player. I wish that was going to happen at LSU instead of in Europe or in the G league but such is the way basketball is played these days. Even high school players are being paid to play these days and the only goal is to be paid a great deal in the NBA, and oh yeah, making the all star team. The concept of college basketball that I grew up with, and yes I am an old man, of players actually playing four years and graduating and being loyal to their school not just the coach or their AAU mentor are long gone.
From all the mock drafts I have seen, you will not be drafted but probably signed to a two way contract. I will be pulling for you to do better but in a day of 6'6" to 6'9" guards you have a tough road to go down.

Man... you’re usually a good poster but this was awful. The backhanded compliment. The observation on today’s guards... cmon man you’re better than this

You're probably right. We all have our bad moments but I'll stick with most of what I wrote. I just think it is sad that the players come and go so fast, let alone coaches, that you barely get to know them and they are gone. Is Tremont a great player? Absolutely. Will he ever make it in the NBA? Remains to be seen.

I agree he ends up on a two way deal but I don’t think he can do anything in college to improve his stock. He isn’t going to grow to 6’2 in the next year
