I don’t even remember many (any?) passed balls from Hayden with Paul. A ton came Monday.

I think we are rolling with the line up from this weekend til the end

The fact that he didn’t sub him in the 9th Sunday and the 8th Monday leads me to believe he maybe nicked.

If you had any wonders about whether Jay will play Milazzo, the fact that he didn’t even insert him in as a defensive replacement in the top of the 9th against Oregon St. should answer that question. Which by the way was almost a huge mistake after Hayden dropped the pitch to allow the runner to advance to scoring position in that inning. Was overall shocking that Milazzo did not play at all as a defensive replacement the entire regional.

Start Travinski and put Milazzo in late if we have a lead to protect

It’s this simply this team is built on offense. You are going into the most important weekend of the season. You ride with what got you here and that’s putting the best offensive lineup on the field and let Skenes eat game one. Then slug your way through the rest of the weekend.

Which is why I don't think Skenes is going to ask for Milazzo to be behind the dish which means the lineup stays the same and Travinski is going to be catching on Saturday.

I wondered if this was why as well; but clearly our crack beat writers would ask about this, right?

Keep it exactly how it was. Oregon is a better hitting team than Kentucky and we played them very well on defense. I don’t think Travinski is gonna have to play 3 games next week so that should help

There is absolutely an argument for milazzo catching and travinski dh’ing with skenes on the mound

I don’t think you can because you don’t have a 3rd catcher. Milazzo is forced to hit late in games. You can’t sub him out. Part 2, is if hr gets hurt and has to leave the game, you are fricked

would have to be Beloso. Travinski in the DH role

Beloso can play 1b so Pearson or Jobert could be subbed out too. I would think those 2 would be out before Beloso.

We need guys who can drive in runs and are clutch at doing so to win Super Regionals and CWS. Have you not watched college baseball in the last 30 years ? There is a reason we don’t have a bunch pf 5’6” 165lb high school short stops playing 3/4 of the field positions any more. Every guy in the lineup has to be a threat to drive the ball deep for extra bases or home runs.

I know that’s the general perception and it may be accurate, but the stats don’t tell the same story. Travinski has thrown out 4 of 13 base stealers while Milazzo has thrown out 4 of 19.

Milazzo is also a much better catcher at catching/blocking the ball. They will bunt people to 3rd all weekend, can't have passed balls.

Protecting leads with insurance runs is important too. Travinski looks like a major league hitter right now he's so hot.

I think you have to put him at DH. I know Beloso is hot as well, but Travinski has another level of power and is seeing it even better.

Whoever is catching this weekend can't have passed balls and will deal with tons of aggressive base running and bunts.

I’m getting it from the LSU website:

SBA/ATT - Milazzo (15-19), Travinski (9-13),

So am I. Maybe the difference is that the abbreviation SBA is Stolen Base Attempts. A is assists. CSB is Caught Stealing By (or Base not sure which). They really need a glossary of abbreviations.

Double-checked on their individual pages as well

https://lsusports.net/sports/bsb/roster/player/alex-milazzo/

https://lsusports.net/sports/bsb/roster/player/hayden-travinski/

This Season
Milazzo (4-15)
Travinski (4-9)

Career at LSU
Milazzo (25-50)
Travinski (7-27)

Unless I am misreading.

If the best pitcher in the country is more comfortable throwing to one catcher over another, you listen to him.

So how does the head coach fit into this scenario? It appears that he has no decision-making power and can be vetoed by his pitcher. Where will Skenes place the catcher in the lineup? I also heard Skenes might cut Johnson's salary if he pulls him too early.
