Putting a limit on times you can transfer will cut that number in half

Should be a maximum of 2 imo

Good, I have zero sympathy for Any player, jumping into the portal, looking to get a better business deal

You are wrong because:

The players looking for a better business deal are typically not the ones left without a home. They are looking because they’ve performed well enough to increase their stock. Someone will pay them.

The players stuck…that you have no sympathy for…are kids that get processed away from their original program and lose their scholarship.

I always wonder how many D1. players just washed out each year before the portal and we just didn’t track it.

85 scholarships and most teams taking 25 HS kids anyway.

In the early 2000s thru the mid 2010s LSU averaged roughly 10 players a season transferring out of the program (processed players) to make room for the incoming class, with a vast majority of same dropping down in Division in order to remain eligible to play the following season. The range was roughly between 7 to 13 players.

Unfortunately, it cuts both ways.

I completely agree with you, however, I also agree that you’re most likely sleepy.

My guess is "sleepy" is a child in his underwear, living at home, and someone else pays his bills.

Because some of those in the portal are being forced to by the program.
Then I misspoke that I agree with it, but the ones looking for a bigger paycheck and possibly future starting players from a program then jump into the portal just to get a bigger paycheck. I have zero sympathy for.

Disagree on the amount of transfers. If I’m getting pushed out I should be able to explore as many opportunities to continue my career as possible. There should be no limit as long as someone wants me

The money (under the table) has always gone to the producers. Everyone else at least got $100k in room, board, tuition, and elite training PER YEAR.

The college model was fine just the way it was.

These fluckers were NEVER EXPLOITED. That's one of the biggest lies ever perpetuated by the media that is ALWAYS looking to stir up shite.

what's gonna happen when schools just opt the player out of schollys and they "student athlete" wants to sue for breach that the school didn't hold their scholly for them?

The processed LSU guys will generally find schools. But the trickle down effect means processed ULM or New Mexico State kids will have much more difficulty finding a place to play.

It’s a bit interesting, though - now that we don’t have annual signing limits, there’s nothing stopping teams from taking as many players as they want in order to get up to their normal scholarship numbers.

So assuming that we do actually end up with ~1,000 players without homes, that means one of two things. Either:
A) Schools are using fewer scholarships than they were using in the pre-portal days, or
B) That’s 1,000 more scholarships being handed out to high school athletes.

Something else to consider is that some number of kids in the portal are players who have been dismissed from their team for whatever reason - generally due to off-field issues of some sort. In the past, these players just disappeared and you never heard from them again. Nowadays they almost all wind up “in the portal” even if there’s no realistic hope of them signing elsewhere.

I have no idea how many players for that bill; probably nowhere near 1,000. But it’s not zero either.

Processed Portal doesn’t get talked about much but it exists.

This will be a free market.
Schools will portal out players to make room on the roster, while some players will move out for better oppertunities.

Before the portal it was always public knowledge when players got processed from a program. You never hear about that anymore. It’s just “player” has entered the portal. I would like to know the percentages of kids willfully leaving teams vs being told to leave. I am willing to bet the percentages lean towards kids being forced out.

For all the complaining the coaches do about NIL and the portal it has made it so much easier for them to improve their roster year to year and not look like the bad guy processing a kid they made a promise to.

Bc like stated above in another post. Alot of these kids are being processed and forced out of there programs. The ones that hunt for better deals year in and year out i totally agree. But at this point and time can you blame a kid? You pay a hs kid X about and I'm getting half of that. Pay me or I'm looking g elsewhere is the mentality of this kids and there families

Yep, 100% need to pay $$ back and sit out a year after your first transfer. This is insane
