I’m excited about Ojulari as well. I think he’s gonna come in ready to play. We have a lot of interesting options at defensive end this season. A lot of inexperienced guys but you have to think someone will be able to break out.

Potential Defensive ends:
-Neil Farrell (likely starter)
-Justin Thomas (experienced veteran)
-Ali Gaye, TK Mclendon, and Soni Fonua (unproven juco guys with athletic upside)
-Jaquelin Roy (true freshman who I think ends up being the best DE on the roster when all is said and done; I bet he plays early)
-BJ Ojulari (freshman early enrollee; maybe more of a stand up edge rusher than a true 4-3 end, but he should be out there some in passing situations)
-Jarell Cherry? Michael Williams?

That is a lot of bodies. Someone’s gotta be able to get after the quarterback.

We should be elite stopping the run with our bigger personnel, imagine Logan, Shelvin, Ika, and Farrell or Roy out there. That’s A LOT of beef.

I watched Notre Dame vs. Georgia last year and it made me realize how bad our D Line was at getting after the quarterback. I would have taken Notre Dame's aggressive D Line over the shite we had last year.

As some have said, the scheme did not lend itself to rushing the passer from the DL. The “Tite” formation we ran was designed to clog the middle and funnel all rushers to the outside freeing our LBs up.

At DT, apparently. Rumors that he was losing weight to play DE in the 4-3 were apparently not true

Justin Thomas (experienced veteran)

Apparently came in overweight, too

Apparently is a DT now, which is a head-scratcher. Is Williams on the team still?

I like Gaye to start eventually. McClendon is intriguing based on O’s comments. I love Ojulari coming in on passing situations and making an impact eventually this year. And I also agree Roy may wind up being the best of all of them, but not this year. I do love that there are so many athletic bodies all along the line. It may take a while, but they should figure out a very nice, productive rotation eventually. Would be nice if we could get some inside pressure from our DTs like we used to as well.

but after looking at his build, he’s the type of kid you want walking off the bus first

Doesn't look like the type of guy you'd want in coverage though

Is this all from the last O interview? Cherry at DT is interesting I wonder What he is weighting.

Dude game in as a OLB/DE and we just keep asking him to stack on weight.

I get the feeling that this defense will be very special. Overall, we are an underrated team and I feel strongly about that. I think we have a good chance at repeating or at least making it back to the playoffs.

A lot of talent, but a lot of new starters. It depends on how quickly they develop and how quickly the D acclimates to Pelini's scheme. I think the 2021 front 7 is going to be filthy good.

Great News — We are 4-3 in 2020 & Coach
Bo has speed speed and more speed!!! Demon speed!!! Speed we need!!!

I could not believe O came out and said BJ Ojulari would be an All-American this week. That’s early and gushing but he’s got that eye for talent and knows a hard worker when he sees one.

Around game 4 or 5 when this pass rush and Bo’s schemes start to pay off, it’s going to be unfair for the rest of the conference to play an LSU Offense with a dee this damned badass.

FACT:
DBU IS FOUR DEEP ON THAT DL — Anyone Remember this ever happening?

I’m gonna go cheer up the Gumps in SEC Rant — “Dump” Jones is just too good a nugget to leave here

Was Cherry the one people were ranting and raving over where he would carry backpack full of bricks around campus. Then when season started barely sniffed any action?

Not sure I would call Gaye an "impact edge rusher", he had 1 sack last year in JUCO, and didnt play much as a freshman at a different school. his other numbers did go up a lot this year as a sophomore like tackles and tackles for loss and made an impact batting down some passes, dropping in coverage and blocking some kicks though.

Not trying to be negative nancy but just stating some facts. I dont know if they expect Gaye to be some huge 3rd down threat based on him not being one in JUCO.

Honestly the DE spot is what I worry about the most next year. We honestly return so little production there and nobody even of the older guys has ever stepped up. I think BJ Ojulari is our best talent as far as rushing the passer but as a freshman cant expect too much there in the end. I think if he got 4-5 sacks that'd be a good year. Interested to see how Pelini approaches this year because I think he's going to have to work some magic for us to be a threat rushing the passer this season.
