Same. When I played 3rd I would sometimes apologize to the SS for cutting him off. He would always tell me to shut up and do what I supposed to do.

Dugas clearly had to go into the gap for it also, was not a 3-4 step move in straight away left. It was an easier play for Dugas but it’s not like Crews ran a mile to get there either.

Rewind and look at Dugas’s face. He’s dumbfounded why Crews would run him over on a camped out ball in LF.

That could of been because he didn’t hear Crews call it… he knows crews has the right to be there.

Crews most likely didn't call him off or Dugas didn't hear him. You asked why the announcer would say Crews has the right of way. The answer is that the centerfielder always has the right of way and the other fielders go after the ball until they get called off.
