but stanford would be a god awful place to go to college in terms of the town alone. granted the education is amazing, but just in terms fo town, it's like goin to school in a rich cookie-cutter suburban neighborhood

My dad is a Stanford grad and has maintained this position for a long time. I partied up there this fall and had a good time though

Being excluded from this shouldn't get your LSU feathers ruffled. It's a financial article, not a "Best Place to Spend Saturdays in the Fall" college town list.

Baton Rouge must have really tanked on the quality of life measures.

In Columbia, Mo., for example, home of the University of Missouri, that size of house runs $217,500. When combined with a $40,178 salary, it’s an affordable locale.

That's exactly why everybody is asking for a bailout and need more money.

The income ratio to buy a house is frickin stupid.

Unless they just eat bread and water.

Forbes just came out with their list of the top ten college sports towns. LSU doesn't make the list but, UK, Arkansas, and Missouri do?

top 5 most passionate and rabid sports base? Certainly.

But not much to do in BR LA for the college sports fans. College bars and that's about it. Boring, bland.

Those quality of life measures they also used. BR LA = not so good.

I go to Stanford currently and can say that Palo Alto being a great college town is BS.

Palo Alto is the most boring city I've lived in. Only thing there are stuck up rich people living in overpriced houses. Nothing to do except eat at restaurants which close at 9pm. No movies, clubs or places for anyone under 40 to hang out at.

If Austin isn't on the list, the writer is an idiot.

I believe if they were rating game atmosphere, LSU would be very very very high. But that is not this article.
