Not every guy on the 22 depth chart is going to the NFL. You need experienced borderline guys to fill the gaps

Exactly. Thad Moss didn’t even get drafted & is arguably the best TE in the schools history

Medical and small/slow combo for nfl
Joe Burrow made everybody look good and Moss was the least of a defenses coverage concerns. This is a weak example.

You’re missing the point.

All those guys should come back

That is point you dope.
If Moss was on this team, you’d be saying LSU doesn’t need him, to just let him walk. But on a good team he is the exact type of niche player that you need to be successful.

My point is that if you have to convince double digit upperclassmen from this team to return and significantly contribute next year after they just had the worst season in recent memory at LSU, that’s not a great sign.
The ones with upside to truly make an impact — like Ali Gaye or Neil Farrell (because you actually rotate DLs) — then sure you want them another year. I just look at guys like Shanihan and Deculus on a bad OLine and believe it’s better to develop some of the young talent to step in as starters. I mean, we have numbers on the OLine. Double digit scholarship players with at least 3 more coming this signing class including a likely juco/grad transfer. I’d bet the OLine can’t get worse

My point is that any of the bad starters don’t need to be brought back. That simple.
Moss made his mark. Shanihan sucks. K?

In his final year. People bitched endlessly here before that saying he was always hurt and would never contribute. So you would pretty much have had him off the team before he had a chance to make his mark.

If there is someone better than Shanahan then so be it. Position battles are good

I think He gets drafted if he’s healthy.

I think it's super important to get ZVR to come back. The guy has been the team MVP so far this year IMO, and that's not a joke about how bad we've been. Having a top notch punter is a legit asset to a football team, even though you would hope to never use him.

They have a freshman Punter coming in that is cock diesel so it’s not dire Zack comes back, tho of course would be welcomed

Lol far from it. Being injured doesn’t equate to sucking
Look, if you bring back depth then fine. But when you bring back guys like Shanihan you are effectively promising them their starting spot. We are looking to bring back the majority of draft-eligible starters from a bad OLine (none of which would be drafted except Ingram who ain’t coming back imo) and some of those guys don’t have much upside to be better than what we got from them this year. We know what they are and it wasn’t good enough.
Now, if you can have a serious heart to heart with Shanihan and tell him nothings guaranteed other than he could likely be a swing player and depth for us and he agrees to that because he doesn’t want to give up the sport he loves, then fine. I just think Orgeron is going to promise him something that most Tiger fans don’t want to see again in 2021

I think a good deal of the guys on the roster are carrying too much weight. Probably a product of winning the championship and not having a real off season.

Making list like this is a fool’s errand and will only lead to disappointment.
Success in College football is about one thing, the ability to adapt to change.

You forgot about Tory Carter. With Gilbert gone LSU will need a solid blocking TE/FB and he’s a demon on special teams. I hope when he goes pro the Saints grab him.

Your performance in this thread is so embarrassingly fricking stupid, that I am actually embarrassed for myself for being somewhat cordial to you in that Lee thread. You are that fricking stupid. The Rant has sucked this year—you post on the Rant. Perhaps you should fricking kill yourself
